The Definition of “Insufferable”

Insufferable: having or showing unbearable arrogance or conceit.

“An insufferable bully.”

“His win made him insufferable.”

Synonyms: conceited, arrogant, boastful, cocky, cocksure, full of oneself, self-important, swaggering; vain, puffed up, self-satisfied, self-congratulatory, smug.

Informal: big-headed, too big for one’s britches, too big for one’s boots.

Literary: vainglorious

Being insufferable is a bad thing. It’s generally indicative of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Yes, some people will like you, but so many more will hate you and anyway, there is no good reason to act this way in the first place. It is absolutely pathological behavior. The insufferable person/narcissist is completely selfish. It’s all about them, all the time. The Me Show is on all day, every day and that’s the only channel. Some of them can be giving, especially to their families, but more often than not you will find that these people cannot be called giving in any way. You’re either giving or taking in life, as life is reciprocal. The insufferable person/narcissist is a taker, not a giver. He takes from most people and gives little if anything in return. Somehow he thinks this is a perfectly fine way to walk through life.

    Santoculto perfectly fit this definition.

I think this idea is a problem for many cause the American way is about climbing to the top and those who oppose you are hating. Nonetheless, and I’ve seen this especially with bodybuilders, an attitude of mass arrogance develops. It’s also no wonder a lot of these guys are attracted to Republican and Libertarian leaning politics.

However, as with the article about Arabs and Israelis and Africans and Afrikaners, you stated that highly smart and arrogant people are targets of insane amounts of hate because those around them are not willing to be servants of them, even if it massively improves their standard of living.

Anyhow, again we see the sin of idolatry with those massively obsessed with gaining power. It’s sort of the opposite of really lazy people, even lazy be socialist standards, who really have no drive to do anything.

    That’s Donnie Trump!

  4. The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.

That is one reason East Asians are so lack of confidence, while blacks are so confidence.

I’ve seen no evidence of that. East Asians are very angry and that requires confidence. Possibly your talking about some nerdy Asian-American stereotype. Note, they’re only nerdy cause they’re outnumbered and living in a foreign land.

It’s the classic definition of a dickhead Note, the lectures I gave santoculto on 10-year-old child morality, one which Trump, whom he likes, possesses.

It sounds a bit old fashioned now but you still hear “insufferable” used as a qualifier for a “bore”

So “insufferable” conjures up the image of someone holding forth at great length, showing little to no interest in his audience / interlocutor. It is thus used to describe a person with Autistic traits .

    “Insufferable” is a masculine quality

    • Well narcissists can be huge bores too and they will go on and on about themselves even way past the point where anyone else is listening. In narcissists, this is not an autistic trait. Instead it is part of parcel of the NPD.
