What Is the Republican Base?

A lot of people think Trump and his followers are the Base now, and some say that means that the Alt Right is the Republican Party Base now. I agree that the Trumpkins are now the Base. There are other groups in the Base, but the Trumpkins have drowned them out with sheer numbers, I’m afraid.

Base would seem to imply a group with large numbers.  The RNC crowd is no longer the base of the Republican  Party, if it ever was.

One might also argue that the Base is the hardcore party supporters and volunteers on the ground who man the phone banks, knock on doors and get out the vote. In that case, the Democratic Party Base would be the Daily Kos crowd or the left wing of the Democratic Party. The right wing of the Democratic Party lacks mass support. All they have is money. But it’s that group that elects the candidates of course. Money talks and bullshit walks, right? This year, I would say that the Democratic Party Base was pretty well split between Hillary and Sanders. We would have to count Blacks and Hispanics as part of the Base if we are being fair. I doubt if union members make up much of the Base anymore, but they used to.

If we want to refer to the Base as the basic constituent elements of the Republican Party, we can say that the party is now made up of:

  • Alt Right Deplorables
  • Christian Right Pro-Life Churchies
  • Small Government Conservative Corporations and 1%’ers

Alt Right Deplorables, including the far moderate end of the Alt Right in the Breitbart Crowd. The talk radio crowd, Dittoheads, the militias, the Oath Keepers, the preppers. You get the picture. At this point, this group is the majority of the party and is able to swamp the other elements.

And yes, it is as vicious, ugly and deplorable as the Republican Party carefully crafted it over all of these years, like ostriches refusing to believe that the monster they were feeding would one day grow up to be a Frankenstein/Tyrannosaurus menace that scares the crap out of even its RNC creators.

See, they thought they could nurture this monster forever without birthing it into an actual living, breathing entity. Instead it would just be confined to the lab as a experimental meme to be fed like growth hormone to the Base every election so they could get elected. They always thought this monster would never escape from the lab to stomp around menacing the nation, but of course that’s exactly what happened. If you don’t want to loose terrifying monsters on your fair land, then don’t create them in the first place.

Expecting your monster creations to stay happily in the lab forever without busting out some time is hopelessly naive, but hopeless naiveté and blind optimism without side mirrors is after all an essence of our momentary high time preference egos. In other words, refusal to predict logical bad outcomes or even figure the probable future consequences of present behavior is essential human nature, and may even be adaptive in a sense. People who worry and fret all day never get anything done, and when they get too scared, they can barely leave the house. And so we humans plunge blindly forward, damning all of the tomorrows.

Christian Right Pro-life Churchies: This group was never a good fit with the decadent 1% or the increasingly degenerate White working class now squandering into debasement, raw indulgence and general wiggerdom in broken guns-and-pills blighted and bankrupted working class towns across Flyover Country. Most of these declining towns are also full of fundamentalist churches, which makes no sense in light of their general decline, monetary, moral and otherwise. Or perhaps it’s an antidote. Or maybe it’s like going to Confession. Or maybe it’s that classical crazy American mix of Puritanism and Wild Hedonism while claiming to be morally coherent which has long defined our people.

At any rate, many in this group are still quite upright and proper or at least try to be, and this group is in increasing conflict with a morally degenerate Alt Right group and a 1% class which has always been as depraved as the rich have ever been. It’s a combustible mix heading for head-on collision. The pieces of the puzzle just won’t fit together anymore.

Small Government Conservative Corporations and 1%’ers: Really this is the Alt Right crowd, but it’s also long been the Christian Right crowd too, which makes no sense as Jesus himself was Big Government socialist. But this group also includes the usual decadent 1%’ers and the large corporations. It’s the rich and the large corporations, in other words. These are the ideological Libertarians pushing the minarchism model that Paul Ryan and the rest of shill for. The rich and the corporations have long cynically used the Alt Right-Breitbart and Christian Right bases, but the whole idea was to string them along and collect their vote without ever implementing the Base’s actual projects. Rich men want their daughters to have abortions too, you know.

The RNC is mostly made up of the small government conservatives, the 1% and the corporations who are now fleeing the Alt Right base like a lethal stampede at a stadium.

The whole mess is fracturing, not that it ever made sense anyway.

There is now some movement on the Christian Right of outrage over the most un-Christian behavior of the lecherous misogynistic rake, Mr. Trump. Trump after all is the antithesis of everything these Christian Right folks stand for. Asking these churchies to keep voting for the worst sinners on Earth would seem a tough sell, and one wonders how long this fragile, insensible scaffolding of an alliance can even hold up without collapsing under the weight of its violently clashing contradictions.

The Alt Right is increasingly at war with the 1%’ers and corporate crowd at RNC, Inc., who they regard as cucks and general sellouts.

The RNC crowd has been holding barf bags all this time while urging everyone to vote Trump, but now they are actually using the bags and denouncing the man who left them heaving at the porcelain throne. A human being can only take so much contradiction, you know.

There’s no real split between churchies and Alt Right at the moment, except that the Alt Right is swamping the Churchies numbers-wise. Churchies Rubio and especially the vile Mr. Cruz lost big to Alt Right Trump in the polls.

The RNC poster boy Jeb Bush and finally the hail Mary pass called John Kasich didn’t stand a chance.

The Alt Right is storming the Party Committee Bastille and screaming for the heads of the leadership. The party types run in terror from the villagers with torches.

It’s a revolution all right, but it’s the wrong kind.

Oh Lord steady our hand as we go forward, feeling our way in the plunging gloom.

So wiggerdom is basically getting tattoos, doing drugs, acting tough even when there is no real threat, etc.., basically hyper-masculine moron behavior.

Don’t worry Robert. In a decade of two there will be so many non-whites it will be impossible to elect a Republican president or house or senate.

It’s important to mention that most Republicans voting for Trump admittedly don’t like Trump. They just can’t bring themselves to vote for Hillary. In a way they aren’t much different from Sanders supporters who can’t stand Hillary and all her flaws but are holding their nose and voting for her because Trump is unfathomable. It’s only about a third of the Republican party which you might call Trump diehards. So when all is said and done, it’s less than 20% of the total nation that are true Trumpanzees. The majority of the population consists of single-issue/low-information voters. They’re not interested in a bunch of wonky policies details. They aren’t pouring over data of the CBO to see if the candidates tax and spending plans are feasible. Most people are very simple and just want a president that makes them feel good and mirrors what they want to hear. At that point, voters circle the wagons and become little different than two rival teams at the Superbowl screaming at each other. One team wearing red, one wearing blue.

I love showing this video to Trump supporters:

      Tulio,

No one give a shit that Trump was friends with Bill and Hillary Clinton twenty years ago when he was a businessman and not a pol. If you think Trump is an inside player after the way he humiliated the Clintons during the second debate you are even dumber than I thought.

      • Tulio

Moron, did you even watch the first minute of the video? Does he fucking look 20 years younger in that video? That was just a couple years ago. He even praised her performance as secretary of state. But all of a sudden he thinks she’s the spawn of satan. Gimme a fucking break. There are one of three things going on here, none of which look good for Trumpanzees.

        1) He is now saying what he actually means. If that’s the case, it shows his bi-polar nature and lack of judgement that he could speak so admirably of people he has known at the personal level for years and now all of a sudden they are demons because he’s running for president. Exactly what does he know about them now that he didn’t know a couple years ago? It’s bullshit. Anyone that incoherent is an incompetent and has the judgement ability of a grade schooler.

        2) He really doesn’t mean what he’s saying now. He’s has just adopted a persona that his supporters want to hear. He’s just throwing them red meat because he really, really wants to be president and this is the most expedient way to get his supporters riled up. I find this more likely than number 1. Juxtapose his comments in the video a couple years ago to his “put in her jail” comments last week. He doesn’t plan to put anyone in jail. He’s giving his voters what they want to hear. He’s spent his entirely life as a conman and snakeoil salesman ripping people off. This is his latest con and he’s found a whole bunch of suckers buying the product he is selling.

        3) He’s been a Hillary plant the entire time. He’s the only Republican unpopular enough to lose to her. They still are friends behind the scenes and this was all fixed in order to throw the election to Hillary. With the added benefit of turning the Republican party against itself. It would certainly explain a few things, such as why Trump seem to constantly sabotage his own campaign against the advice of his campaign managers. Why else would he spend weeks in twitter battles attacking the Khan family or a former pageant contestant. Who the hell does these things that actually wants to be president?? Perhaps he’s just playing his supporters for fools. http://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-blog/presidential-campaign/291286-is-trump-deliberately-throwing-the-election-to

        • Stalin Tonks

I didn’t watch the video or read your stupid response. If Trump was an inside player he wouldn’t have humiliated the Clintons by bringing those four rape victims into the debate with him.

        • Tulio

          “I didn’t watch the video”

Of course you didn’t. Don’t want to hear something that might cause cognitive dissonance. Go back to burying your head in the sand. I’m enjoying watching Heir Drumph the savior fall in the polls every day.

        • Stalin Tonks

          Oh I see…

“Hillary you’re a great friend of mine so I’m going to bring in four women who claimed your husband raped them to the debate with you”

    • Stalin Tonks

Laugh out loud. Trump is a businessman who has to suck up to pols to get his projects off the ground. He was not running against Hillary when he said this stuff or probably even planning on running against her. It’s the same thing as candidates calling each other the scum of the Earth when competing against each other for the nomination of their party and then telling everyone what a great guy the winner is when the contest is over. Sort of like how Cruz finally endorsed Trump when he realized his future political ambitions were in jeopardy if he didn’t.

  4. My maternal Grandmother; a creationist Methodist who voted for the Republican nominee every General Election since 1960, is writing-in Kasich.
She refuses to vote for Trump.

    • EPGAH

OK, what does Kaisch offer? I thought he was for illegals, continuing mass illegal immigration, and scratching his head why American wages keep dropping.

    • Point is, that plenty of people who revere White culture, or TRUE White culture (not Alt-Reich refurbishing) don’t like Trump.

The only guy who actually talked about ‘preserving Anglo Culture’ prior to the Trumpkins; Tom Tancredo, endorsed Cruz!

      • Stalin Tonks

And who is Tom endorsing now? Hillary or Trump?

      • Stalin Tonks

I’ve read a lot of stories of life long democrats who are voting Trump this time as well as people who haven’t voted for twenty or more years. I’m sure there are more people like your grandma (or WTF she was) who normally vote republican but are going to vote for that corrupt dyke.

  5. Stalin Tonks

The republican party needs to be destroyed. They are a bunch of cucks who allowed the democrats to flood the country with democrat voting non-whites for the last fifty years. Fuck them.

    • Tulio

Even if the immigrants were only limited to Western Europeans, the political effect would’ve been the same. Whites outside of America are much more socialist than white Americans. They have no problems with things like national healthcare, higher taxes, green energy, climate science, abortion, secularism, etc. White Americans are a completely different animal from whites in Europe. In fact in some ways, the non-whites we get from Latin America and Asia are more culturally conservative than most white immigrants from Europe these days.

      • Stalin Tonks

And I don’t have any particular problem with those things either. What I do have a problem with is a growing population of niggers everywhere.

      • Tulio

You said you had a problem Democratic voting immigrants. If you don’t mind about those things I mentioned then what relevance is it that immigrants vote Democrats?

      • Growing population of niggers everywhere?

I guess you must mean Black folks.

Obviously the Black populations of Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East, and the Near East are going through the roof. I share your concern. And surely the Black population is exploding in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Paraguay, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Mexico are going through the roof. The Blacks are surely overwhelming New Guinea, Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia. It’s a real problem.

Even here in the US, Blacks are 13% of the population and in a few decades they will explode to 13% of the population. Whoa! Population explosion dude!

      • Stalin Tonks

I don’t want low IQ parasites in my country draining my tax dollars.

  6. A lot of lifelong Democrats (including this one) will be voting Republican for the first time. If Trump loses and the Bush wing regains control of the party it will be a short marriage. It seems like the people don’t want someone who is above the influence of money power that is corrupting our political process after all.

    • Stary Wylk

Except for the time I voted for Chisholm, I have always voted for the Democrat for President. Not this time. If Hillary doesn’t die first, she’ll start one or more wars.

  7. James Schipper

    Dear Robert

I don’t think that the Republican elite created or fed a monster. That monster was already there, and the Reps only would caress it during elections and ignore it between elections. They had to caress it in order to get elected. As a plutocratic party, the Reps have a problem. How can they get a majority when their main aim is to make the rich richer and to give ever more power to the business class?

In a democracy, a plutocratic party can’t win even a large minority, so the Reps had to practice deception as a matter of course and pretend that they had the interests of white nationalists, superpatriots and social conservatives at heart. Now Trump ended their game. If Trump loses, the Republican establishment loses. If he wins, they lose too, because he is no longer their man. It is wonderful to watch these cynical, mendacious, deceitful plutocrats go down to defeat. Thank you, Mr Trump.

    Regards. James

In case you haven’t notice, Heir Drumph softened his stance on illegal immigrants. So Heir Drumph cucked himself. And this is all pretty much a non-issue anyway as illegal immigration is basically at a net zero at this point. This isn’t the 90s anymore. Demographic changes in Mexico and a growing Mexican economy has meant fewer of them have been coming here. You’re getting some asylum seekers fleeing violence from Central America, but we’re talking about a pretty small number of people overall. Immigration from S. America is pretty much negligible.

No, Trump is not anti-1%. Look at his economic advisors and look at his tax plans. But see you are exactly the problem with this country. You are the type of emotional, low-information voter that he relies on.

    • It is actually a net loss. More illegals left than came since 2009, so their populations is declining. Plus there have been huge deportations under Obama. I still think they need to go though. They are still a huge problem.

Trump is not anti 1%. Of course he is not.

      • Stalin Tonks

Trump is against Free Trade which benefits the 1% the most. He’s against shipping jobs out of the country which helps the 1% most. He’s against the carry interest deduction which helps the 1% the most. He’s against illegal immigration which helps the 1% the most.

        Need I continue?

  9. Stalin Tonks

I think you hat needs more tin foil.

  10. Stalin Tonks

White men are responsible for about 99% of all the technological progress you see in the world but meh, no big deal if they all disappear.
