More Genes Regulating Intelligence Found Just Recently

The article below which was published in the journal Nature Neuroscience on December 21, 2015, or just two weeks ago, shows a major finding in which two different networks were associated with IQ and also with epilepsy and cognitive impairment syndromes. They called the networks M1 and M3.

They likened the networks to a football team where all of the players have to be lined up in their particular positions in order for the network to work well. However, if these genes are in the wrong order or if they are mutated, the networks can cause epilepsy, autism spectrum disorders and mental retardation.

They also discovered that the networks shared a common regulatory switch which made the team optimistic that they could manipulate the networks at some future point and  switch on the network, thereby leaving open the possibility that anyone could be made intelligent via genetic therapy. In addition, if this switch  manipulated, conditions such as epilepsy autism spectrum disorders and mental retardation that cause severe cognitive impairment could be better improved or treated better.

In addition, a new study in the UK found that 65% of the difference in students’ GSCE scores was caused by genetics.

Genes which make people intelligent have been discovered and scientists believe they could be manipulated to boost brain power.

Researchers have believed for some time that intellect is inherited with studies suggesting that up to 75 per cent of IQ is genetic, and the rest down to environmental factors such as schooling and friendship groups.

But until now, nobody has been able to pin-point exactly which genes are responsible for better memory, attention, processing speed or reasoning skills.

Now Imperial College London has found that two networks of genes determine whether people are intelligent or not-so-bright.

They liken the gene network to a football team. When all the players are in the right positions, the brain appears to function optimally, leading to clarity of thought and what we think of as quickness or cleverness.

However when the genes are mutated or in the wrong order, it can lead to dullness of thinking, or even serious cognitive impairments.

Scientists believe that there must be a ‘master switch’ regulating the networks and if they could find it, they could ‘switch on’ intelligence for everyone.

“We know that genetics plays a major role in intelligence but until now haven’t known which genes are relevant,” said Dr Michael Johnson, lead author of the study from the Department of Medicine at Imperial College.

“This research highlights some of genes involved in human intelligence, and how they interact with each other.

“What’s exciting about this is that the genes we have found are likely to share a common regulation, which means that potentially we can manipulate a whole set of genes whose activity is linked to human intelligence.

“Our research suggests that it might be possible to work with these genes to modify intelligence, but that is only a theoretical possibility at the moment – we have just taken a first step along that road.”

In the study, published in the journal Nature Neuroscience, the team of researchers looked at samples of human brain from patients who had undergone neurosurgery for epilepsy.

They analyzed thousands of genes expressed in the human brain, and then combined the results with genetic information from healthy people who had undergone IQ tests and from people with neurological disorders such as autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disability.

They conducted various computational analyses and comparisons in order to identify the gene networks influencing healthy human cognitive abilities. Remarkably, they found that some of the same genes that influence human intelligence in healthy people were also the same genes that cause impaired cognitive ability and epilepsy when mutated, networks which they called M1 and M3.

Dr Johnson added: “Traits such intelligence are governed by large groups of genes working together – like a football team made up of players in different positions.

“We used computer analysis to identify the genes in the human brain that work together to influence our cognitive ability to make new memories or sensible decisions when faced with lots of complex information.

“We found that some of these genes overlap with those that cause severe childhood onset epilepsy or intellectual disability.

“This study shows how we can use large genomic datasets to uncover new pathways for human brain function in both health and disease. Eventually, we hope that this sort of analysis will provide new insights into better treatments for neurodevelopmental diseases such as epilepsy, and ameliorate or treat the cognitive impairments associated with these devastating diseases.”

Earlier this year a team at King’s College London discovered that up to 65 per cent of the difference in pupil’s GCSE grades was down to genetics, after analyzing genetic data from 12,500 twins.

They found that all exam results were highly heritable, demonstrating that genes explain a larger proportion of the differences between children, between 54 and 65 per cent.

Previously it was thought that intelligence was determined by the formation of the cerebral cortex, the outermost layer of the human brain, also known as ‘grey matter.’ Grey matter plays a key role in memory, attention, perceptual awareness, thought and language.

In contrast shared environmental factors such as home and school environment contributed between 14 and 21 per cent. The rest was made up by individual external influences such as diseases or friends.

Report author Professor Robert Plomin believes that children should be genetically screened at the age of four so that an individualized curriculum could be tailored to their needs.

“Understanding the specific genetic and environmental factors influencing individual differences in educational achievement – and the complex interplay between them – could help educationalists develop effective personalized learning programs, to help every child reach their potential by the end of compulsory education,” he said.

That’s a new one😆 Surgery to give low IQ people a high IQ. That’s gotta to scare the crap out of the far right.

Yes, it does, they already made a horror book, then a movie out of it–and for once, the movie was BETTER!

Maybe those skinhead bullies etc.. need to quit mocking retarded people. They just might get revenge one day.

These genes may only influence a narrow set of intelligence types.

If turning on high IQ genes doesn’t also increase empathetic responses, impulse control, and self-reflection then you’re just making aggressive, antisocial, and boorish populations better at math and tech. More Indians anyone?

Why not use similar techniques on chimps? It would still be a nasty, brutish chimp society but now they can do math!

We could use them to do menial technical tasks for peanuts!

Who needs advanced White peoples and cultures when there’s high IQ brown people who won’t resist being housed in a smelly, loud, overcrowded housing block with a burst sewage pipe?

An IQ above 100 a Western equivalent culture does not make.

Two Wongs don’t make a White.

Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes is probably one of the best scifi books on the topic. It also discusses the role of wanting to improve one’s self, so there’s a lot of nuance.

All behavior doesn’t come from IQ. Some stuff comes from the culture. Note also the culture doesn’t always come from the IQ, or the IQ from the culture.

    https://notpolitcallycorrect.wordpress.com/2015/07/02/dailymail-mixed-race-relationships-are-making-us-taller-and-smarter-children-born-to-genetically-diverse-parents-are-more-intelligent-than-their-ancestors/

Lets get to some health problems that plague mixed race kids, which along with for instance the dangers of so much mixing as seen in places like Rio De Janerio, that this article didn’t mention.

Mixedrace children suffer from more health problems

A study on Black-White mixes in agreement found that ”When it comes to engaging in risky/anti-social adolescent behavior, however, mixed race adolescents are stark outliers compared to both blacks and whites.” This holds true despite being raised in similar environments to mono-racial children.

The more people of different backgrounds who produce offspring = the more types that are harder to match. Multiracial patients have uncommon profiles and since there can be many possible racial and ethnic combinations in multiracial societies, finding a match can still be extremely difficult.

If you become ill with a blood cancer or other disease that requires a stem cell transplant, here’s an uncomfortable fact: Your race matters. Diversity is a strength in much of life, [citation needed!] but it’s a curse when finding a stem cell donor match.

Why things like this weren’t put into the article and only one side was shown, the “good side” of mixing races, beats me. Oh yea, they have an agenda they’re pushing and want all of us to believe that there are no racial differences.

It’s funny. Far leftists will adamantly say that race doesn’t exist or IQ isn’t real or that IQ tests are biased, yet when things come out that are “positive” for minorities, these same people who were saying so much that those things don’t exist, they all of a sudden start to say things like that. I thought race doesn’t exist, why would they point to examples like this? Things like that boggle my mind how you can say somethings like that so much but then switch up your tune when the opposite is shown to be proven. We need to recognize racial differences.

No shit😆 Maybe cause they’re being bullied by racist assholes.

Stem cell ??? What’s the odds of getting leukemia? They’re pretty high. Yes, maybe in some such freak instances, mixed raced people might be out of luck.

I have some mixed ancestry and have needed blood transfusions in the past. There was NO problem. I think the website phil listed exxagerates the “blood donor thing”.

The website is pushing an extreme political agenda, much like some far left website that might be saying genetics has no effect on crime, education etc.. at all, period.

No, Phil’s websites’ little sissy admissions that hardcore Nazis are wrong about “blacks being apes” isn’t making them a hero, even to middle of the road thinkers.

        • First of, how MIXED are you and of what racial groups? Due to different genetic distances, a mix between a white and a mestizo Hispanic wouldn’t be the same as a White mixing with a predominately sub Saharan.

2, the article doesn’t state that admixture will make it IMPOSSIBLE, but is rather a factor that can put you at risk at getting a blood match, and again this is talking about SUBSTANCIAL admixture, NOT trace ones like below 10%.

My point that it makes a DISTINCTION between IT’S science and what people (e.i you) think it is leaves your typical comment on HBD and political affiliation to WN’s useless.

And, is he does has a political motive, so what? Robert saw the same thing when he first went into HBD but HE didn’t use that as an excuse to deny racial stats.

    • Funny, you DO know he has two articles actually debunking Nazi pseudoscience, right?

One being that Blacks are apes and the other being there “paleo diet” in which has there obsession with meat and such.

You brought up a good point. However, note that most African Americans and maybe even Mexicans already have a lot of white blood As far as Africans (from Africa) go, probably most white people would never be close enough to marry one anyone anyway. However, if they did, there would some medical risk perhaps, but I bet it’s no more than getting in a car crash.

As race mixing in general goes tough, it’s odd, cause where I live no white people are dating non-white people. It’s not necessarily cause they’re racist or disapproving of other dating non-whites., it’s only that they just aren’t interested in it. They are sexually attracted to other whites. They didn’t fall in love with non-whites.

I’d say the pattern above is true for all the US and worldwide, each group is dating others from the same group. So again the website is just stirring up hate by exxagerated and misleading science.
