Bigfoot News Thanksgiving Edition, 2012

Dr. Melba Ketchum Bigfoot DNA study getting ready for the big reveal? Igor Burtsev released the following blurb on his Facebook page the other day, which set off a storm of speculation:

“International Center of Hominology (Russia)

The DNA analysis of the Bigfoot/Sasquatch specimen conducted by Dr. Melba Ketchum the head of DNA Diagnostics, Timpson, TX, USA has been over!

Team of American scientists led by Dr. Melba Ketchum for five years has analyzed 109 purported samples of such creatures. The study has sequenced DNA of a novel North American hominin, commonly called Bigfoot or Sasquatch.

There were a large number of laboratories associated with this study including academic, private and government laboratories in which blind testing was utilized to avoid prejudice in testing. Great time and care was taken in the forensic laboratories to assure no contamination occurred with any of the samples utilized in this study.

After 5 years of this study the scientists can finally answer the question of what Sasquatch really is. It is human like us only different, a hybrid of a human with unknown species. Early field research shows that the Bigfoot/Sasquatches are massively intelligent which has enabled them to avoid detection to a large extent. They are different than us, however human nonetheless.

The hybridization event could not have occurred more than 15,000 years ago according to the mitochondrial data in some samples. Origin of this hominin was probably Middle Eastern/Eastern Europe and Europe originally though other geographic areas are not excluded.

The manuscript associated with this study has been submitted to a scientific reviewed magazine.

For years people have refused to believe they exist. Now that we know that they are real, it is up to us to protect them from those that would hunt or try to capture them for research or for sport. They should be left alone to live as they live now. After all, they are our relatives.

At this time, analysis of the Sasquatch genomes is still ongoing. Further data will be presented in the future following this original study. Additionally, analysis of various hair samples purportedly from Siberian Wildman are being tested in an effort to determine if relatedness exists between the Sasquatch and Russian Wildman.

Head of International Center of Hominology,
Moscow, Russia +7(916)812-6253 “

This was followed soon after by a Ketchum statement saying that she would elaborate on Burtsev’s statement. A couple of days later, Ketchum released the following her Facebook page, which then went out as a general press release.

Five-Year Genome Study Yields Evidence of Homo sapiens/Unknown Hominin Hybrid Species in North America

DALLAS, Nov. 24–A team of scientists can verify that their 5-year long DNA study, currently under peer-review, confirms the existence of a novel hominin hybrid species, commonly called “Bigfoot” or “Sasquatch,” living in North America.

Researchers’ extensive DNA sequencing suggests that the legendary Sasquatch is a human relative that arose approximately 15,000 years ago as a hybrid cross of modern Homo sapiens with an unknown primate species.

The study was conducted by a team of experts in genetics, forensics, imaging and pathology, led by Dr. Melba S. Ketchum of Nacogdoches, TX. In response to recent interest in the study, Dr. Ketchum can confirm that her team has sequenced 3 complete Sasquatch nuclear genomes and determined the species is a human hybrid:

“Our study has sequenced 20 whole mitochondrial genomes and utilized next generation sequencing to obtain 3 whole nuclear genomes from purported Sasquatch samples. The genome sequencing shows that Sasquatch mtDNA is identical to modern Homo sapiens, but Sasquatch nuDNA is a novel, unknown hominin related to Homo sapiens and other primate species.

Our data indicate that the North American Sasquatch is a hybrid species, the result of males of an unknown hominin species crossing with female Homo sapiens.”

Hominins are members of the taxonomic grouping Hominini, which includes all members of the genus Homo. Genetic testing has already ruled out Homo neanderthalis and the Denisova hominin as contributors to Sasquatch mtDNA or nuDNA.

“The male progenitor that contributed the unknown sequence to this hybrid is unique as its DNA is more distantly removed from humans than other recently discovered hominins like the Denisovan individual,” explains Ketchum.

“Sasquatch nuclear DNA is incredibly novel and not at all what we had expected. While it has human nuclear DNA within its genome, there are also distinctly non-human, non-archaic hominin, and non-ape sequences. We describe it as a mosaic of human and novel non-human sequence. Further study is needed and is ongoing to better characterize and understand Sasquatch nuclear DNA.”

Ketchum is a veterinarian whose professional experience includes 27 years of research in genetics, including forensics. Early in her career she also practiced veterinary medicine, and she has previously been published as a participant in mapping the equine genome. She began testing the DNA of purported Sasquatch hair samples 5 years ago.

Ketchum calls on public officials and law enforcement to immediately recognize the Sasquatch as an indigenous people:

“Genetically, the Sasquatch are a human hybrid with unambiguously modern human maternal ancestry. Government at all levels must recognize them as an indigenous people and immediately protect their human and Constitutional rights against those who would see in their physical and cultural differences a ‘license’ to hunt, trap, or kill them.”

Full details of the study will be presented in the near future when the study manuscript publishes.

There is now a great deal of speculation about where and when the study will publish. A lot of folks are saying that it will publish in a Russian magazine and not in a real scientific journal, but that may be a misreading of Burtsev’s Russian press release. Burtsev is not a native English speaker, and his English may have been misinterpreted.

Ketchum’s spokesman seems to be Robin Lynne, a longtime Bigfoot habituator who lives in rural Michigan. She claims that there are up to 10 Bigfoots living around her property, and every day, she feeds them a variety of foods including Blueberry bagels, which they are particularly fond of. A lot of people have ridiculed her story, but according to information I have, there may indeed be Bigfoots on the property assuming some of the things she is relating are actually occurring.

For instance, one morning, Robin went out to her feeding box and found it locked! She heard noises inside, and when she opened it, the food was gone and there was an opossum inside!

She let the opossum out, but she was puzzled. Sure the possum could possibly have gotten into the box, but there is no way the possum could have gotten into the box and then locked the door to it afterwards. Shades of a locked room mystery here. Lynne concluded that the Bigfoots must have put the opossum into the box as a joke.

Burtsev is an associate of Lynne and has stayed at her place before. Burtsev released the initial PR release which Ketchum then relied upon. So Melba is in deep with Lynne, Burtsev and the rest of the Forest People crowd (Forest People is a group on Facebook). The Forest People group is widely ridiculed as being inhabited by Bigfoot kooks and idiots, but who knows? At this point, things are so insane in the Bigfoot world that anything is possible.

It is interesting that she has concluded that the hybridization event occurred not more than 15,000 YBP, and that it was a result of male subhumans breeding with female humans.

It is also interesting that both Neandertal and Denisova have been ruled out as the subhuman on the nuclear side. The report also says for the first time that the subhuman on the nuclear side is substantially more ancient than either Denisova or Neandertal.

As Denisova split from us 800,000 YBP, this means that the Bigfoot nuclear subhuman split from us before that. That leaves us possibly with Homo Erectus or one of his relatives like Homo Heidelbergensis.

This also means that a hominid more ancient than even Denisova was still roaming the Earth only 15,000 YBP. This is shocking, but it’s possible, as Homo Floresiensis was also roaming the Earth 13,000 YBP, and Flores Man is quite a bit more ancient than Denisova. Dr. Jeff Meldrum also states that we have a Homo Heidelbergensis skull from China from only 12,000 YBP.

Perhaps the most bizarre aspect of the report is that Bigfoots have DNA on the nuclear side that is non-human, non-hominin, and non-ape. This, frankly, makes not the slightest bit of sense at all, but it lines up with what we have been hearing for a long time now.

For forever now, David Paulides has been telling people that the nuclear subhuman component of the Bigfoots is from aliens. He says they “can only trace it back 30,000 YBP, and then it stops.” This apparently means that the Bigfoot nuclear subhuman came from outer space. Wally Hersom has also been saying that there is something in the Bigfoot nuclear subhuman that is “not of this Earth.”

When Ketchum got on the phone to talk to someone about the results of the DNA study, she mentioned the Starchild skull for some reason. The Starchild Skull is a famous skull that Dr. Lloyd Pye has been working on for a long time that he claims is from an alien.

More below.

Original Ketchum paper mentioned “angel DNA.” A source tells me that Wally Hersom has discussed the initial version of Ketchum’s paper. According to Hersom, the paper is very well written, but its conclusions are hard to take.

Ketchum writes that there are aspects of the Bigfoot nuclear subhuman DNA that she cannot find in any DNA database, and according to her, this means that the DNA is not of this Earth. In the paper, she reportedly refers to this as “angel DNA.” Whether she is trying to say that it is from angels literally or whether this is her way of saying that it’s from outer space, I do not know.

Hersom was reportedly disappointed in the paper and averred that while this may be true, no scientific journal on Earth is going to publish anything about “angel DNA.” I would certainly agree with that statement. Sure, maybe there is “angel DNA” in the Bigfoots. For all I know, this may be true. But on the other hand, of course no journal will touch this with a 10-foot pole.

I do not know whether or not she has rewritten her paper to take out the reference to “angel DNA,” but I would certainly hope so.

Ketchum press release vindicates me as a source for Bigfoot information. My detractors say that I am a poor source of information and that nothing I say is ever true. However, this is not the case.

I was the first person to leak the news about the DNA results of the Ketchum study. Although my leaks were not completely accurate, they were substantially correct. Ketchum’s release lines up well with what I have been saying for a long time now.

Ketchum states that she did full sequencing on 3 separate nuclear DNA samples and that they were submitted blind to four different labs. I reported earlier that one of those full sequences was the Sierra Kills sample. I do not know from which samples the other two nuclear sequences were derived.

She said she has also done complete sequencing on 20 different MtDNA samples, presumably representing 20 separate creatures. This lines up with what I reported earlier, that Ketchum has DNA from 20-28 separate creatures.

She also says that she has 109 different samples, all of which apparently test positive for Bigfoot DNA. Actually, it is not clear from the text whether all 109 tested presumptive for Bigfoot or whether she had 109 samples in total, some from Bigfoots and others from known creatures.

This lines up with what I said earlier, that ~100 of her samples tested presumptive for Bigfoot.

Scott Carpenter verified as a successful sample in Ketchum’s study. I was the first one to report that Carpenter had a successful sample in with her study. That has now apparently been confirmed via a post by David Paulides. In addition, Carpenter has released a blog post with a photo of the possible Bigfoot that he believes left the sample. It’s a very strange photo, and I don’t know what to make of it.

Ketchum verified as doing genetic testing on strange elongated Peruvian skulls associated with the Genesis Project. The Genesis Project is an undertaking that is associated with some very strange elongated skulls dated to several thousand years ago that were found in Peru.

Though assumed to be Homo sapiens sapiens, no one quite knows what they are, to be honest, and they are very strange. It turns out that Ketchum is now doing DNA testing on these skulls. How do I know that? Brien Foerster reveals it on his Facebook page here.

Strange Bigfoot video out of Northeastern Ohio. This video came out just the other day, shot by a birdwatcher in the woods of NE Ohio. We get many sightings from that area.

It’s hard to say for sure what this is, but it may be a Bigfoot.

Possible Bigfoot on thermal in Vermont episode of Finding Bigfoot. This odd recent episode of Finding Bigfoot (which I did not watch) shows Matt Moneymaker and Bob Fay at night with a Flir camera chasing what they think are Bigfoots in the woods of Vermont at nighttime. Although they didn’t recognize it during the show, an astute viewer noted that a possible Bigfoot appears in the video. It can be seen around the 50 second mark in the footage.

What is it? Who knows? It’s a bipedal creature walking around in the woods at night in the freezing cold Vermont forest with no flashlight. It’s either a human or a Bigfoot, we can’t tell which. But how many humans walk around in the woods at night with no flashlight? I’ve been in the woods at night all my life, and I’ve never once seen a human walking around in the woods at night without a light. I would say that they nearly don’t even exist.

Ketchum Project has material from the Lovelock skulls of Nevada. The Lovelock skulls of Nevada are very strange skulls recovered from a cave in Nevada. The local Indians say that those are the skulls of an enemy of their people called “the giants” who lived in the area. The giants had started stealing Indian babies for food, so the Indians chased the giants into the cave, threw bushes in and set them on fire. All of the Indians died in the cave. The Indians describe the giants as huge and red-haired. There is speculation that the giants may have been Bigfoots.

The late, great Richard Stubstad told me that he went to this Nevada museum where the skulls are held. He convinced one of the workers there to let him steal a tiny bone from one of the skeletons. Stubstad took the bone and gave it to Ketchum to test as a possible Bigfoot. Last I heard was that Ketchum never tested it as she thought that the Lovelock skeletons are just Indians.

Arguing against the idea that the skulls are Bigfoots are that a number of Indian artifacts were found in conjunction with the giants, which suggests that they were Indians, not Bigfoots.

Here is a photo of the Lovelock skulls. They are very large.

The Provo Canyon Bigfoot video. A very interesting video was recently shot in Provo Canyon, Utah by a group of young people in their 20’s who were camping in the area. The original video is only 48 seconds long. They are photographing what they think is a bear on the hillside above them when suddenly it stands up on two legs, looking much like a Bigfoot. The shooters then flee in terror, even leaving much of their equipment behind.

Michael Merchant of Team Tazer then conducted a long 45 minute interview with the group. He concludes that the video appears to be real. The subject in the video is either real or it’s a man in a costume. I don’t think it’s a guy in a costume, and I don’t think these young folks hoaxed this video. In other words, I think it’s a Bigfoot.

The original video, now with an incredible 6 million views, is here.

Fulton County, Illinois trailcam Bigfoot. This very odd image below was captured on a trailcam in Fulton County, Illinois. The people who shot the photo say they do not have the slightest idea what it is. The woman who shot the photo is named Jean King and she lives in Fulton County.

She sent the photo into Prairie State Outdoors a while back. The photo had been languishing in the archives of the site unpublicized until a sharp-eyed researcher found it. It’s not a bear. It does look like a Bigfoot. It’s either a Bigfoot or a guy in a suit. So which is it?

Ok, so what the Hell is it? Does it look anything at all like the Melissa Hovey photo?

The extremely curious Rick Dyer camper Bigfoot video. This video has been taking the world by storm since it was released a month or two ago to much controversy. Dyer, of course, is the used car salesman who masterminded the Bigfoot in a freezer hoax out of Georgia a few years back.

After that, he was involved in some other nonsense, including what looks like hoaxed photos and a possible staged event where his camper truck caught on fire as he was leaving to go north to Canada to try to shoot a Bigfoot. One of my sources told me that he set the camper on fire on purpose to get publicity for his Canada stunt.

Dyer has somehow come into some money and has managed to attract a number of investors. He now has a significant team set up and has been running around the north of the country going on various Bigfoot hunting expeditions with his team.

This video showed up on Youtube and sat there for a couple of weeks, only garnering a handful of views. The Bigfoot was shot out of a tent, and the researchers apparently didn’t even know what they had shot a video of as it was uploaded either upside down or sideways. The Bigfoot occurs mispositioned at the end. The video was on a channel for the team’s personal use and apparently was intended to be viewed only by the team.

Somehow Facebook Find Bigfoot saw the video and figured out that the movie was inverted. They righted the video so the figure could be properly seen. A new video in color showed that this was an actual Bigfoot. Then the video went viral and a huge shitstorm ensued.

Although Dyer was not originally associated with the video, some excellent fieldwork by one of Bigfootery’s finest researchers, Steve Kulls, quickly discovered that the video was shot by either Dyer himself or a member of his team.

Then everyone piled on and said this proved that the video was a fake. However, it did not prove this at all. In a conversation with me, Kulls admitted that he never said that the video was fake. He is merely saying that since it is coming from Dyer, an extremely unreliable source with a history of hoaxing, Occam’s Razor would seem to indicate that the extremely hazy nature of the source means that we will never be able to prove whether or not this is a Bigfoot.

Facebook Find Bigfoot was involved with the video from the very start. They felt that the video was shot by a member of Dyer’s team, that the team had no idea what it was for weeks (it was shot upside down, the Bigfoot only appears in the last 2-3 seconds of a 30 second nearly nonsensical video, and after 2 weeks, it had less than 10 views.

According to Facebook FB, this seems to indicate that it is not a hoax. They also thought that the other team members had thrown Dyer out of the group after news broke that he was a member of their group. The team also said that they had more videos, possibly of this same Bigfoot, including one showing the Bigfoot eating something.

They planned to release these videos at a press conference in the near future, but the conference never happened. Of course, the Bigfoot in a freezer catastrophe had also featured a press conference, so this set off even more alarm bells. The community is now sharply divided on this video, with many saying it’s a hoax.

However, I think this is either a real video or it’s the best hoax ever made. I don’t care if Dyer shot it. Just because Dyer has a history of hoaxing doesn’t mean he couldn’t shoot a real video sometime.

Interesting photo showing the Camper Creature next to a photo of Patty.

Camper Bigfoot lined up with Patty. Note the striking resemblance. I’ve yet to see a costume get anywhere this close to Patty’s real look.

Original video enhanced. This is the 2-3 second scene at the end of the original video, enhanced, in color, and played repeatedly.

A great breakdown by Facebook Find Bigfoot that proves this is real.

Bigfoot with love handles breakdown by Facebook Find Bigfoot. Very nice breakdown of an obscure video posted on Youtube and discovered with only a few views. This is definitely a Bigfoot; it has to be. I won’t go into why I think that either. Hoaxers are way too good as it is, and I don’t want to give them any ideas.

Clinton Township, Pennsylvania Bigfoot. Reportedly taken by Jamie T. It was sent into the Bigfoot Evidence blog. The photo is being widely ridiculed as either a guy in a suit or a bush in the forest. However, I rather like it. To me it reminds me of the Harley Hoffman Bigfoot video towards the end of the video. The overall shape of the Bigfoot looks similar.

The mysterious Bigfoot photo from Pennsylvania. Reportedly shot from the front sear of a car. The car had probably pulled off the highway after seeing something. The driver then whipped out his camera and took this shot. The property is posted so the shooter was not able to go on the land to look for tracks.

Canadian Bigfoot video. There is little information available about this very blurry video shot in the wilds of Canada. You cannot make out much of anything about the creature walking in the woods in this video other than the fact that it is bipedal. It’s either a man, a guy in a suit or a Bigfoot. The way it walks reminds me very much of the Penguis Back Road video. And the end of the day, inconclusive, but I do feel that this may be a real Bigfoot.

Cheers Robert! I believe that this time there may actually be something to MK’s push to publish, to wit: vanity. Ketchum simply wants to be the first out of the gate, especially with the inimitable Dr. Sykes closing fast. If getting published first means going with a publication with lesser credentials she’ll do it. Sykes no doubt can pick and choose, an option the immeasurably less regarded Ketchum simply does not have. Regardless, exciting news. Well done. Cheers!

This is taking crazy to a whole new level.Robert,do you think sasquatch the quest will come out if this ever gets published,I would selfishly finally like to see a bigfoot. Not a camper video one but a real HD one.One last thought, why are descendants of angels so damn stinky?

  3. I honestly can’t see them publishing with a Russian journal just to “get it out first”. If such were their prime motive, we probably would’ve seen something already. The fact Burtsev made the release doesn’t automatically infer publication with a Russian journal. It’s not like he isn’t on the inside with these people.

    • vergearuker

Burtsez is unstable at best.He comes off like he’s selling something. Come to Russia and hunt Yeti! Tourists welcome……thumbs down, vergearuker

      • I am not too happy with Mr. Burtsev myself. We are not at all on speaking terms these terms. He’s a pretty volatile and emotional fellow. I don’t really go for mercurial types like that.

  4. Excellent post. One correction, not that it makes much of a difference, the Bigfoot prefer Blueberry bagels–not muffins.

  5. Interesting times. I am most worried when a scientist uses terms like angel DNA. My problem in the industry of all the paranormal realms is people trying to bend evidence to prove their belief system instead of their belief system stemming from irrefutable evidence. If there are more than one ways to explain this unusual DNA, then here specifying angel source says she has a belief system and that is navigating her study of Bigfoot DNA by looking for proof of the Divine. We run into this in the UFO community thinking everything is aliens or ghost community thinking ghosts are proof of afterlife. Agendas need to be checked at the door. As much as I have enjoyed this DNA rollercoaster ride, until a legitimate publication releases the findings, I remain properly hopeful, but not planning the celebration yet. Thanks Robert for making this public and for keeping enough light on the “project” that you keep them nervous and aware they can’t do it all in the dark.

    • Thank you very much Sharon. Hey, I thought you hated me? Change of heart?

      • ed rumferlife nolan

        Your a love,hate relationship kind of guy,Robert.

      • Robert, I am understandably cautious about you and Shawn both. Upon occasion, you manage to get some very good information and you control troll population which makes people not scared to comment here. I never ever have a problem telling someone when they’re doing a good job because I am trying to encourage good behavior. I’m pleased when you present things objectively and without interjecting attitude and pot shots at the person you are writing about. If you continue to find accurate sources and recognize the ones that are feeding you BS, and you continue to be objective about it and control your troll population, I might find you a pleasant source of information. Keep it up. BTW, you are listed in my upcoming Paranormal Geeks book as a source of news.

    • jurrawarra

Have to admit the ‘Angel DNA” seemed very odd at first but I’m guessing it simply indicates that they do not know what it is from. Perhaps the DNA from the Starchild Skull could be worth a comparison to this Angel DNA ? Who knows where this will all end.

  6. Ernest

What?? Scott Carpenter’s picture is “one of his typical Blobsquatches”, I went to his blog and the pictures are pretty darn clear considering they are infrared photos from what he says is a “trail camera”
    Look for yourself…

Angels, Aliens and Bigfoot , Oh my !

I had high hopes for this paper. Silly me.

  8. Tom Nally

Robert: I think you mis-read Dr. Ketchum slightly.

You said, “Perhaps the most bizarre aspect of the report is that Bigfoots have DNA on the nuclear side that is non-human, non-hominin, and non-ape.”

But Dr. Ketchum said, “While it has human nuclear DNA within its genome, there are also distinctly non-human, non-archaic hominin, and non-ape sequences”.

So, she didn’t say that there were non-hominin elements in the genome. She said that there were non-archaic hominin elements. Sasquatch’s entire genetic ensemble is hominin, according to Dr. Ketchum. The specific hominin is unknown.

    • Caz

Yes, I interpreted it this way, too. “non-archaic hominin” just means not neanderthal nor denisova. But could mean any of the early erectus.

    • Susan

Thank you, someone paying attention! Sasquatch is human, At one time, there were many different humans, you can see examples of some of these in the Peruvian museum in Lima, elongated skulls that were not head boarded.

  9. The closest thing to bigfoot in Islam is this very long Hadeeth. It talks about dajjal (anti christ) and jasasah (bigfoot?)

The waves had tossed them about for a month, then they were brought near to an island, at the time of sunset. They landed on the island, and were met by a beast who was so hairy that they could not tell its front from its back. They said, “Woe to you! What are you?” It said, “I am al-Jassasah.” They said, “What is al-Jassasah?” It said, “O people, go to this man in the monastery, for he is very eager to know about you.”

    Rest can be found here:

My sentiments exactly re Sykes – until Oxford releases their will be no mainstream and therefore considered credibile recognition

  11. DAVE

Use the friggin correct term to describe Native Americans.

  12. Joerg hensiek

    Robert, you are phantastisch!
Thanks you for all the News of the Last two years!

  13. Caz

Congratulations on your sleuthing Robert. You were right, mostly. Let us hope the scientific paper will be published soon. I suspect we need DNA from Flo and the Red Deer Cave to make sense of this, though.

  14. Caz

My favorite hypothesis: Australopithecus or Sediba left Africa, and Erectus evolved in Asia, migrating back to Africa. The Dmanisi and Flores finds are evidence of this early wave. Later erectus (Antecessor or Heidelbergensis) left Africa again, hybridizing with their more primitive relatives still living in Asia, and so it continued. In this scenario, Bigfoots would derive the paternal line from multiple hybridizations, tracing back to those very earliest hominids in Asia. Your thoughts, Robert?

  15. Mre2me

I’m actually excited to watch “Finding Bigfoot ” tonight.
I wonder if MM is fuming about Melbs’s announcement ?
I wonder If Melbs is on her second box of chardonnay
bemoaning the fact her “reveal” may have killed her paper from
getting published ? Wouldn’t that be against an embargo ? revealing
as much as she did? ….. but then if it isn’t getting published in reputable
journal who cares ? right ?
Such a wonderfull little soap opera for the holidays, …. As the relic hominid turns…….
What will Adrian Erickson do ? Where is Wally Hersom ?
all these will be answered soon on
    As the relic hominid turns……

    • Supposedly Matt is going to do his own reveal tonite. They got some purported BF hairs and sent them in to be DNA tested. The results will be revealed on tonite’s show. Some think that that is why Melba pre-released so soon tonite. She got her hand forced more or less lol. Also she may be pressured by the upcoming Sykes release which is supposed to be at the end of the month.

Erickson’s documentary should release in tandem with the Ketchum paper, so it should be out soon. About Hersom, I do not know. I know he has been to the Sierra Kills site a couple of times recently though.

Melba may not be releasing in a mainstream scientific journal if you ask me. She may be just trying to release it any way she can by hook or by crook.

Burtsev says they waited 5 years for science to publish her paper, and they blew it off, so he is arranging to have it published anyway just to get it out there. I think it may publish in a Russian publication of some sort…

      • Mre2me

Thanks for that narrative Mr. Lindsay.

        tune in tomorrow as we find Igor Burtsev flying back from Russia ,guilt ridden at betraying his only love ;
And then crushed to find his magnificent goddess; Dr. Ketchum in a compromising position with Bobo and a Jeff Meldrum cast. ……
ON as the relic hominid turns…….

      • jurrawarra

Did Matt reveal anything ? I missed the show.

  16. Robert, I always await your breakdowns with baited breath. Your blog continues to be my go to source for my squatch fix. Funny how you’re almost always right about these things. Good on ya my friend!

  17. Objectivity

If we’re this close to proving the existence of Sasquatch, shouldn’t this be all over the media? How is that you’re always the only one to know about it? And how do you know your sources are not all just loons, or attention seeking liars or pranksters? And how could a hominin as primitive as Sasquatch be smart enough to survive in a climate as cold as north America, when so many other primates are confined to warm regions. And how could such huge creatures evade defection for so long especially in the age of iPhone cameras. Why hasn’t someone just left a camera in the woods until they got it on tape? Is there really enough unexplored wilderness in north America for such a huge monkey to hide? Lumber is a huge industry. Forests cut down everyday.

    • It’s not an ape. It’s a person.

The media doesn’t believe in BF, so it’s not a story.

They are indeed caught on trailcams pretty regularly these days. They are also shot in cellphone cams. But the skeptics don’t believe in any of those videos or photos.

      • Ken Wilson

Just what I was thinking Robert, I’m convinced that if I weren’t 20 lbs overweight and had the smallest of survival skills that I could remain undetected on my own wooded block of land. Especially if nobody was looking for me and I was more or less nocturnal! Great work with the Blog. I love it!

    • Joerg Hensiek

the big media coverage will start after the paper has been published in a (hopefully) well-established science journal. I have no doubt about that.

      • Dave H.

I have wondered about this myself. Whether the media does or does not believe, isn’t this still something to report? I hear more and more lately that mainstream media is largely controlled by the government, so is that a reason? The implications to our society and belief system are so significant, so how can this be ignored by the media?

        Love your posts Robert!

    • vergearuker

      To Objectivity
      1. The media is a tool of the government or vice versa? Robert spends the time to find these bits of information. More than most,(He’s usually right.)
2.The larger the animal the further north it can live covered in hair.
3.If I wanted to be undetected in the woods I would be.
4.People put cams in the woods everyday. Some,if not just a small amount actually deliver real photos.Remember, most sightings are fleeting,1-3 secs. Are you ready at all times to capture that photo say while fishing or just looking for a place to jack off?
      5. People that think there is not enough wild country left don’t get out much if at all.90% of the earth’s population lives on less than 10% of the planets dry land!
6.Lumber? Google earth Weyerhauser tree farms in say just Washington state. They are massive and connect to the Olympic Nat. Park and Mt. Ranier. These are private reserves rarely open to public use.The guv and big tree business know Sasquatches exist and I think they have a good partnership in some regards. Keep them a myth than the tree huggers won’t close the woods to save our brothers of the forest?

I’d like to thank you Mr lindsay for all your info on the subject ,you’ve become my primary source of related news in the last few months , i like the way you keep an open mind (sort of) , but call BS when that calling is due . i had pretty much lost my hope on Dr. Ketchum’s , now getting some of it back!

  19. FRANKO

Howdy ! from the Hoosier National Forest. I just got home from a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. I am very pleased to find a huge Bigfoot holiday post by the one and only ,Bad-ass Dude and ,well loved Robert Lindsay. Among this shit storm, soap opera complete with skeptics, hoaxers and, trolls .Are the cool people who actually know. Everyone knows who they are. Don,t make me call you out ! No matter nasty it gets,or whatever they say in this struggle of life. things happen that amaze us all. The usual food, family and, fun. We agreed to no talk of religion or politics. But Sasquatch is fair game. I am catching up with a nephew and he is extremely hairy. So the subject of the Big-man came up . I told him his father and I,were very good friends and,I had nick-named him; Goat-Legs ! He was a Redhead with green eyes and super thick hair from head to toe. Like E’sau..the Hunter. The hint was met with a very skeptical smirk, but after a few choice stories and, a few Sybilla Irwin sketches,he began to come around. It was then that the lighting struck ,like a bolt of fire out of nowhere ! A grand-nephew steps forward and, begin to tell us this extraordinary, unsolicited class- A ,fresh and, recent sighting. Talk about a gift from the gods. You never know where or when truth is going to rear it’s beautiful head. Eat shit ! skeptics, My boy done threw a ball of fire on the table and,it cannot be ignored or swept under the rug. This young man is sharp ! A 17yr-old ,All American Champion Wrestler ,smart, good looking, none better. He was so relived to find someone who,not only would listen and,not laugh at him but, is also very knowledgeable on the subject. So he proceeds to belt out this wonderful story. So I said, “Whoa” This is great, now start from the beginning . So thru a series of patient and, concise questions the full story in all it’s rich detail begin to take shape. He was spending the weekend with a classmate whose Grandparents owned a big marina ,on huge Milford Lake, in Geary county ,Kansas. After a sleepless night of horseplay. The young men decided to go on a joyride on the property in a golf cart at 4am. It was a hot summer night in Kansas cruising the lakeside roads. All of the sudden they hear a commotion in the brush. They stop the cart to listen. They heard loud crashing and, heavy footsteps ,branches breaking. The noise subsided, then they decided to go on. They drove a few yards, when they saw something standing in the road about 50ft. in front of them. The headlights illuminated the Beast from the waist down ! He was standing side-ways breathing deep, heavy breaths. He was covered in dark gray shaggy hair. His huge hands came almost to his knees. They describe his thighs as massive thirty inch thighs ! They said he was at least 7ft. tall. After a few seconds of grunting and growling he bolted for the brush and disappeared into the night. The putrid scent of a person who hasn’t showered in weeks hung in the still summer night air. The boys were shocked by what they had witnessed and, returned to the main lake house. Very excited, they begin to discuss what they had seen. After a lengthy discussion of the sights, sounds and, smells. They decided to go out a second time to see if they could SEE the beast again. Nothing was found. They were very surprised to learn a previous sighting had occurred at Milford Lake not far from there. The Halibut Effect. Well I hope ya’ll enjoy and believe. I want to give a shout- out to my old Buddy ,Uncle Tancred, Hey ! @Auntie EM , You are an awesome lady and I never said our buddy was dead ! You are all over the place ,And,your poetry spun some brains.Go gurl,Luv ya lots. @ Joerg, Right ON DUDE. @Apehuman, Que pasa, miss you mamasita @ Dano B. Where you been son ? You and your petsmart comb? You ain’t the only one with Forest Fever, just ask my brother ,and Auntie EM! I seen my monster and I don’t want to see it again ! FRANKO

Why Indians? Are they from India?

Explain this away Christian and Islamic fundamentalists!

    Let’s see… “angel DNA”… crossed on human women…

There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.– Genesis 6:4

    Too easy.

      @Uncle T
Dear Sir – Em says she has posted an apology to you over the Rap dispute. She claims that you have not accepted her apology.
I told her that perhaps you missed it.
I think she is genuinely sorry.

Best thing about this blog- no First! or taterhole bullshit. Thank you Robert!

Awsome work Mr Lindsay ! Have just returned to civilization after a rather long, and somewhat painfull, field trip in North Queensland. Got my ass kicked by a Cassowary and got bitten by a large Centipede…..oh the pain…oh the pain…seriously it hurt like hell. Anyway I was hoping to visit your site and be enlightened with good news and am not disapointed. Will wait anxiously now for the actual paper and documentary before opening a bottle but things are finally starting to get interesting.
Love ya work my friend !!

@uncle tancred – I had wondered about the “Indian – Native American” conection, thanks for the info…and as for Justin Smeja perhaps he could be tethered to a tree in the immediate vacinity of his brain explosion covered in blueberry jam….Sasquatch Tribal Justice would be interesting…

  24. Outstanding writing and info Sir. Wow. Looks like it may be hitting the fan anytime now. Where this all may lead us,anyone’s guess. I’m thrilled to be in the midst of this mystery and legacy finally being recognized for what it is. Real. Thanks agian. Looking forward to the next update!!

  25. Caz

As for the Lovelock cave skulls…. they may be a relic population of the first ‘caucasian’ wave into NA. The Kennewick find, plus another in Chile indicate that before the Native Americans entered NA, a different kind of modern human settled in NA, but were wiped out. These people were related to caucasians, being perhaps mostly closely related to the Japanese Ainu. In comparison to Native Americans, these people would have been very tall. Maybe they are the Lovelock Cave people.

    • Hi Caz. Kennewick is not Caucasoid. He’s of a race that no longer exists. Closest resemblance was to the Polynesian Moiriori and the Ainu. Ainu are not Caucasoids. They are Australoids – proto NE Asians. There are no early finds from Chile, but there are some from Mexico and Brazil.

@ Uncle Tancred , seems like we have a lot in common, like the power of the pen. Yes, Finding Bigfoot sucked ! That is why I wrote my story here.Because MM is toxic, and Shawn has too many tater-trolls. Will you please tell Auntie Em, when we first talked -on Oct16 she did say it ? @Em, Darling, when we rubbed elbows …I so fell for you. Please lets never argue. I really am from the land of Oz, Having grown up in the Flint Hills of Kansas. That is where I had my first encounter at age18.

  27. Michael

    This doesn’t look good :

Apparently, one of Ketchum’s spokespersons is now claiming that one Bigfoot is enthusiastic about the results of the study. As much as I would like to believe in the existence of an unknown hominid, I find this hard to believe. Like it’s a prelude to an announcement that Ketchum has been having an adulterous relationship with an Alpha male Bigfoot and that the DNA source was Bigfoot sperm.

  28. Jack Fate

none of this would have happened had that female 15,000 years ago been into anal like the modern woman of today.

This vet has no credibility as a dna technician and when and IF (big if) her report is ever published, upon peer review it will be found to be riddled with more than one kind of error. These will be technical errors and errors of interpretation, based on her faulty understanding of the theory and practice of dna analysis. Nevertheless, if, in attempting to either verify or disprove the “modern day non-human hominid (or hominin)” conjecture, several competent technicians do ever collect and analyze, then COMPARE the genomes of the supposed ‘mystery’ hairs’ genomes, then we’ll see what we see. This woman, however, is not the Madame Curie of sasquology. She’s the Anne Rice. Rob, why can’t you see this? By the way, I personally do go hiking in the woods at night without a flashlight, and that was not just “the woods” but also…a television filming site. You’re a bright guy, but sometimes a touch touchingly naive. 🙂 Methinks)

    • I lived in the woods for many years. There was a house every acre or so and paved roads here and there, but it was the woods nevertheless, in a town of about 15,000. In all the time I lived there, I used to go walking on the roads at night all the time. You never saw anyone even walking on the road at nite when I was out there. You never even saw people out in their yards after dark. After dark, everything goes dead in the woods. Even in the inhabited woods, with people, cars, roads and homes. Not only did I never see any humans about at night, I also never saw anyone walking around without a flashlight at night. Or even with a flashlight. There are not even any humans walking along the roads at night, even with a damned flashlight.

In addition, I have spent many, many nights camping in the woods in all sorts of ways. Sometimes I would go walking at night with a flashlight along the roads in national parks. You never saw any other humans, or if you did, they always had a light with them. Off the roads, I never saw one single human walking the woods even with a fucking flashlight. My conclusion is that humans simply don’t go walking around in the woods at night, even with flashlights. Of course they don’t go walking in the woods without flashlights. You say you do that, but I’ve never observed any human doing what you do in my entire life. Surely it’s very, very rare.

PS, I am getting early leaks of the parallel Sykes Bigfoot DNA study, and it’s excellent news for Bigfoot believers and disastrous news for skeptics like you. But by all means, carry on with your disbelief and prepare yourself to eat corvid soon.

      • bunnyman

A few things. I’ve had my coffee.
        1. You don’t See folks who like to walk in nature without lights because they…don’t…carry…bright..shiny…glaring…night-vision-ruining…flashy-glarey glow-cannons around, which tend to draw attention to oneself in the inky (actually, not so inky if you let your eyes adjust) night. (Don’t worry, I usually have one on my person if I’ve started after dark, and always if I am walking near a road.) I reckon when/if bigfoot is found and their census is taken, and the census of nighttime lightless non-bigfoot nature-walkers is taken, that the non-bigfeet will outnumber the bigfeet. For, remember…the one is an identity, and the other a temporary activity.

I do think that if the Sykes DNA comes back in a way that really, unambiguously supports the existence of Bigfoot, then a live–or at least the whole body of–a Bigfoot, Yeti, or Yowee will be found within a couple of years after that. Things just work out that way. I know, weird. But once the whole world KNOWS they’re out there, they will be found. Consider the Snow Leopard. But first, consider the Mountain Lion.

        2. Let’s say there were a show called “Night Cougars” and their whole goal were to get footage of Mountain Lions at night–real, live footage–not trail cams. They want to give the viewer the vicarious experience of being in the presence of a cougar at night. Something like that. No dogs, no trail cams, just good, old-fashioned “lookin’ around.”

We KNOW there are Mountain Lions.
We KNOW they are stealthy, and avoid humans…mostly.
We KNOW their territories and could easily go up to the known territory of one or more Mountain Lion, that is known to be alive. Heck, let’s say that the people on the show even ask a biologist to come along who knows this particular Mountain Lion’s habits, and could make a good guess as to where it might be on the particular night of the filming.

Do you think they would get footage of the Mountain Lion?
That’s a rhetorical question, folks. My assumption is that, no, they would not.

It is a TV show. There are vans. There are lights. They make noise. I doubt they even try that hard not to. It’s a show.

Now, since we have far fewer photos of Bigfoot, no bodies ever, and a general scarcity of excellent evidence, we must assume that either BIgfeet are far more stealthy than cougars, and far more SUCCESSFUL at being stealthy, or that there are very, very few, or both of these things. Also, that they are far more MOTIVATED and COMMITTED to avoiding contact with people than Mountain Lions are. They are more stealthy (in some ways, at least–I’m sure the Cougars have some advantages in some things), more wary, and more chary, and apparently they never get the kinds of illnesses that would destroy their ability to carry out their almost complete avoidance of being found by humans in the sense that (cover your ears) there is some question about whether they actually exist.

We’ll see when Sykes’s study develops. The things is to compare these unknown hair samples with eachother. Let’s see if the “unknown” parts match. (Later it would be good to see if they are _really_ unknown, or just that some grad student hasn’t looked hard enough through the microfiches or something.)

        • Well, we have lots of photos, lots of videos and tons of eyewitness accounts. We have 40,000 eyewitness reports. Virtually all American Indian tribes say that they are a real entity that lives in the woods, and they have all manner of stories about them, what they do, what they are like, etc. I believe we even have bones, skulls, and skeletons in private and museum collections. A friend has seen some of these things. People see these things basically all the time, but if you report it, everyone says they don’t exist and laughs at you, and after a while, people stop talking about it. Professors who research this are threatened with firing. Witnesses are threatened with job loss, and many lose their jobs and reputations. Their friends leave them.

People don’t see them every day, but they could, and it wound not even matter. Even if people saw them everyday, everyone would laugh at them and say they don’t sexist so all the sightings on Earth don’t matter.

Skeptics laugh off all of our tracks, photos and videos as
“inconclusive.” No photo or video is ever good enough for them.

They bury their dead. A few have been hit by cars and whatnot, but the government comes out right away and steals the bodies. Black helicopters, black vans and MIB’s (guys dressed all in black carrying submachine guns) are used to cart it off. Injured and dead ones have been found by firefighting crews, forest service personnel, disaster cleanup crews and police officers. They are quickly carted off by the government and everyone is warned not to talk.

But mostly they just bury their dead.

There’s a ton of evidence that these things exist, it’s just that no one believes it so it’s worthless.

Anyway, it’s not an animal. Bigfoot is people.

      • bunnyman

I love how your source for this info seems to be Ketchum. Why trust people who won’t give up the goods? Clearly you have never bought drugs that weren’t marijuana in your neighborhood. 😉

        • All my leaks from the Ketchum team so far have been correct.

She won’t give up the goods because the study is in review at a major publication and is soon to be published. I am amazed that she released as much as she did. She can’t release anything until publication.

    • Fly By Night

I have spent a lot of time in the forest during darkness hours with and without a flashlight. I have yet to see a Sasquatch out late at night with a flashlight. Why? because they simply dont have any and they dont need one anyway. Besides that they have superior vision. Dont believe me? Ever see a Sasquatch wearing glasses? There is indeed something out there. Too many professional people are seeing and smelling something the cannot explain. Far too many documented sightings from very reliable witnesses.
(Careful there may be a bigfoot sleeping under your bed) an he is very horny.

      • bunnyman

Ha HA my point was NOT that a real Bigfoot would be carrying a flashlight at night.

      • Fly By Night

while out walking around at night i have always had the feeling I was being watched or followed. Vampires, Wolfmens, Ghost, and Demons are prevalent during those hours. If you want to have a really creepy sensation try camping out in a cemetery all night with the hoot owls hooting and what all.

  39. Nordic Plant

I find it hard to believe that the samples were not contaminated with human DNA by the amature collectors. I’m sure none of them have any training in asceptic technique or cross-contamination at the least. Was the scene where the samples were collected treated as a crime scene to minimize contamination? Did they even use sterile gloves? You can’t just go around picking up hairs and sticking them in a bag and test them. It only takes one human epithelial cell to mess up the results. This would be a good reason for there to be human MtDNA found in the analysis.

This angel crap is just on another level from planet wackadoo. Any ‘scientist’ that is attempting to insert their superstitious dogma into the study as an explanation is biased at the least and has completely abandoned the scientific method at the worst. First off, just because the sequence of DNA is not comparable to anything else in a database is meaningless. The genome of every species as a source of DNA on planet Earth has not yet been sequenced. On top of that, how can one say that the DNA is not of this earth when we don’t have any alien DNA to compare it to? Do aliens even have DNA? Seems to be too much assumption and not enough science.

The whole idea that an alien and a human can mate and create a sasquatch is ludicrous is well. Really? When have a dog and cat mated and ever created viable offspring? It’s the same concept. 2 unrelated species cannot breed and create offspring. If 2 related species such as a horse and an ass do breed there are often fertility issues with the offspring (mule). Genetic engineering by an advanced civilization? OK, maybe but everybody seems to assume that aliens and sasquatch want to have sex with humans for some reason. We would have to assume that humans and aliens are related somehow for this to even be a viable option and that opens up a whole other can of worms.

    • There’s no contamination of any of the samples. They went to great lengths to rule that out. Anyway, contamination doesn’t explain non-human NuDNA.

Whatever her personal beliefs are, I believe that the latest version of the study makes no references to angel DNA or any of that.

  40. Nordic Plant

I’ve watched Finding Bigfoot and have seen how heavy breathing MM and Bobo spew their saliva all over the samples they are collecting while they talk. Such rare and valuable samples- I would think they would show more care. I seriously doubt that any of the samples collected for the study were handled any better. I will believe there is no contamination when the study has been peer reviewed, published in a credible journal and I can read which methodology they used to rule out contamination by either humans or non-humans. I hope you will do the same. I know we all would like to believe, but hoax after hoax has spoiled the milk for me.

The idea that she would even attempt to submit a study with that sort of rubbish in it shows a severe lack of professionalism, training and judgement. Was she ever planning to have the study seriously considered or was this meant to be a publicity stunt? Is she playing with a full deck of cards?

    • Most of the samples were indeed gathered professionally as I understand it.

Anyway, they DNA typing of everyone who handled the samples in any way, in the lab and outside of it, in order to rule out contamination. I understand they went to extreme lengths to rule out that sort of thing. There are no contamination issues going on.

Anyway, all contamination does is give you human DNA. All the contamination on Earth doesn’t give you nonhuman DNA. It’s simply not possible. No matter how much I contaminate a sample with my own DNA, it won’t give a sample nonhuman DNA. It can’t.

    • Maurice Cloud

Cheers Nordic! I have seen the criteria for sample collecting in regards to one such collection team. I can assure you it’s thoroughly vetted and similar, if not identical, to that used by any university/institutional organization. I would add as a matter of course however that human error can obviously occur, but not, I think, to the point of inevitability. I applaud your scepticism, it is in my opinion a healthy beginning point, but resist allowing it to close your mind to possibility.

      • bunnyman

Nordic, you are right on. These people are famous at drawing conclusions when there are logically no conclusions to draw. Or, rather, that there are a range of conclusions to draw, and they pick the one that they like best. That is the danger. Ketchum can’t do this one. Sorry. Maybe she has someone with her who can. I don’t know. Sykes can. Actually, a good grad student could. It’s the mindset. And it’s the scientific method. Intuition can guide one’s quest (like vision), but the individual footsteps are what get you there. This isn’t a dream, or a story, or a movie, but real, actual life. I want a real ape, not broken promises, frauds, liars, cheats, and manipulative, bleeding-heart emotionalism coupled with a 50 year old film and a thousand lower-quality knock-offs plus ape-man illustrations from a 16 year old girl’s fevered sex dreams. (There, I said it.)

“I think they could do a night hunt at Mall of America and swear there are squatch there”

Moneymaker would camp out @ the Krispy Kreme. I could see him calling everything “squatchy” while crumbs accumulate in his beard and on his belly.

  42. Nordic Plant

    People are apes.

The DNA Diagnostics Inc., company website says that they participate in proficiency testing (which would verify they are a decent lab), however they don’t say who the accrediting body is that is testing their proficiency. Furthermore, they reference proficiency testing evolutions they participated in that are almost 20 yrs old (’96 & ’97). Most accredited labs are continually tested and inspected biannually. Are they an accredited laboratory? Why don’t the list them? If they aren’t and have not been passing proficiency testing, this could be another reason to question results. Then there are all the complaints:

The simple fact is that erroneous results come from contamination, improper technique, human error, improper analyzer maintenance, etc.. How do you interpret an erroneous result on an unknown sample with nothing to compare it to? If it looks human but the analyzer has made a copying error it could be interpeted as partially human couldn’t it possibly even be unknown hominin? If we throw objectivity out the window then the results morph into whatever we want them to be. If we throw skepticism out the window then we are all just sheep.

I would love for the results to be collaborated by other laboratories. I would love for this all to not be a hoax. I’m just hoping you don’t get your hopes up too high. Again, we must wait for publishing for this to be resolved.

    • She didn’t even do the DNA work. She sent it all out to be done by outside labs. She used 13 different labs, including the best private and public labs in the US. All the results always came back the same no matter which lab was used. All she did was analyze the results that came back from these various labs.

Dr. Ketchum was one of the DNA specialists who participated in analysis of the remains from the 9-11 victims after 2001, so she is good enough at forensics to be used by the US government.

  43. Nordic Plant

Interesting, it doesn’t mention that in the press release on her website. I’m sure that she, herself, is or was a great DNA specialist. Well, I guess we just shall have to wait and see.

  44. Fly By Night

I like Em she is very witty indeed.

  45. Ok..getting weird noise and ominous mutterings here. Couple rumors about the paper was rejected/unapproved,,for lack of better term. Have you heard anything about this Robert? Or is this just another round of Savage hoopla?
Dammit man. If only Raoul Duke,,and the good Doctor was here. They would straighten this mess out. We are,,after all, professionals,,even on our worst days. Thank you Sir.

  46. Joerg Hensiek

incredible!!!! let`s wait for the official news, but I fear iti is stupid is ketchum to release a press news BEFORE she knews that her paper will be published. it is incredible!!! i have never seen such stupid behaviour in the academic world!!! how can she state that publication is just weeks away???? and another question: a journal discovers just after a year of reviewing the paper that this is NOT valid science???? the whole matter turns out to be even worse than the Dyer /Biscardi hoax a couple of years ago….

  47. Joerg Hensiek

But one thing seems strange to me: a paper can just be rejected when it submitted to a publisher/journal…in the reviewing process itself the reviewers can just demand a lot of changes to the paper, but in the end a paper, that has entered the reviewing stage, cannot be rejected at all!!! So something is strange about this news after a second reading….

  48. Joerg Hensiek

Let´s wait for an official statement from the Ketchum camp or some news brought by Robert. Again, there is something very strange and unlogical about the news, as mentioned above…
