Shocking news! Will the Dr. Melba Ketchum DNA report be released tomorrow, Thursday, February 16? The Bigfoot world is alive with excitement tonight as rumors swirl around that the Ketchum paper will be published tomorrow.
On Bigfoot Forums, someone said that the embargo on the paper will be lifted tomorrow. Another person said they heard that the paper will be published on a Thursday. The two remaining Thursdays in the month are February 16 and February 23. However, our source continues to insist that the paper will be published around the end of the month. The ultimate source of that statement is a very convincing person.
If the paper is due to be published at the end of the month, it can’t be published on February 16, unless Ketchum is playing games, which is possible.
What is the source for the rumor that the paper is coming out February 16? Two days ago, one of our sources found a tweet from a geneticist or someone who works in genetics – Daniel MacArthur @dgmacarthur. He specializes in human variants and population genetics, which isn’t exactly what we are looking at here, or is it? He tweeted this on Monday:
Secretly enjoying the fact that my science journo friends all know my big news for next week, but can’t tell anyone. Thanks, embargo man!
Then he posted in response to his own tweet:
I’m sufficiently paranoid about journal embargoes that even my last tweet gave me chills. So you’ll just have to wait…
Why would he say “next week” for a paper that was due out the coming week, possibly on a Thursday? If you are speaking on February 13 about “next week,” you are talking about Feb. 20-24. “This week” would be Feb. 13-17. That’s the part that doesn’t make sense.
Looking at his recent publications, we find this:
Gravel S, Henn BM, Gutenkunst RN, Indap AR, Marth GT, Clark AG, Yu F, Gibbs RA; 1000 Genomes Project*, Bustamante CD. (2011) Demographic history and rare allele sharing among human populations. Proc Natl Acad Sci USA. 108(29):11983-11988.
I am not sure if that is up our alley or not?
More breaking news! Is the famous Matilda footage in Adrian Erickson’s video hoaxed? It’s a shocking question, and one that must be seriously considered. The footage in question was shot by the wife of “Bob,” the owner of the property, as she was wearing a ghillie suit. She snuck up on Matilda, an adolescent female Bigfoot, and shot a short HD videotape of her walking towards the camera.
The sexy teen Bigfoot approaches the camera, and you can see a closeup of her face, which is said to look like a Chewbacca. Soon the Bigfoot recognizes she is being photographed and growls at the photographer. When she does, you can see fanged incisors. Many observers think these fangs are strange, but many reports say that Bigfoots have long incisor teeth or fangs.
However, on Bigfoot Forums, Bill Munns said he was asked to review a videotape from the Erickson Project, presumably from Kentucky, that may have been thought by the EP to have been faked. Munns reviewed it carefully and said it was a modified Chewbacca mask, but it was very well done. So the rumors are flying that the Matilda footage is Chewie mask and therefore the best EP footage in the video is a hoax.
We can breathe a sigh of relief.
This is what happened:
When Erickson bought the property, about 5 videotapes came with the deal, all shot by the owners. Erickson also purchased these videos for a pretty sum, but he did so with the proviso that if any were proven fakes, there would be no money paid for those fakes.
Of the 5 videos, 4 were thought to be genuine. These nclude the footage of Matilda sleeping in the woods and the famous footage of Matilda walking towards the camera described above. However, the first video, an early video, was revealed to be a fake, possibly with the help of Munns. No money was paid for that video. The other four videos were shot later.
In addition to the first video being faked, some of the reports of encounters at the property made by the household were also thought to be faked. But others were genuine. So, sadly, it is true that as with Paul Freeman, Danny Sweeten and so many others, “Bob,” the owner of the Crittenden property, produced some fantastic evidence and reports at the same time as some hoaxing. I am sure that the skeptics will run wild with this information, but we need to be up front and honest about it anyway.
Apparently the Bigfoots were seen many times by Dennis Pfohl and Leila Hadj-Chikh after Erickson bought the property. In addition, footage of the Bigfoots was shot by at least Pfohl and possibly also Hadj-Chikh. At least some of Pfohl’s footage was shot in a blind. Another thing that happened after the property was purchased was that the Bigfoots hung out for a bit, but then, incredibly, they took off and followed Bob four miles away to his fancy new digs! Nothing like home sweet home, and plus they were probably hungry for Bob’s wife’s special pancake recipe.
However, Pfohl and Hadj-Chikh followed the homesick Bigfoots over the new property and set up a camera trap for them. There they captured what was apparently Matilda with one or more of her Bigfoot babies.
Matilda got pregnant by an unknown male during the course of the study. The original residents at the site were the large 9-12 foot male, his female partner and Matilda, their wild, rebellious, teenage hottie boy-crazed Bigfoot daughter. As I said, she was soon knocked up by some Bigfoot mac daddy. Who done the dirty deed? Surely not her Daddy, so it must have been some other Bigfoot G who was hanging out to try to pick up on some of the local young hottie Bigfoot chicks.
Reiteration of Matilda the sleeping Bigfoot footage. A lot of people still do not understand this footage well. The well known still from this footage has been out on the Net for a while. The footage was apparently shot by one of the homeowners on the property, possibly Bob’s wife. She seems to have sneaked up on Matilda while she was napping, as teens are wont to do, in the woods. The footage is in HD, and continues for ~5 minutes.
In the footage, you can see Matilda breathing and her body moving back and forth as she breathes. At the end of the footage, something appears to startle her – perhaps the presence of the videographer – and she starts moving around in discomfort. After a bit, she opens her eyes and wakes up. The footage ends.
Is Todd Standing’s footage to be included in the Erickson film? It is true that Erickson purchased some of Fraud Standing’s hoaxed videos, although the first of Fraud’s videos may be genuine, emphasis on the may. Erickson is not extremely sophisticated about Bigfoot videos. He’s a hunter, not a videographer. He was ripped off when he bought one or more of Fraud’s obvious fakes. People around Erickson hope he will not be including Fraud’s fakes in the video. Erickson is a sophisticated and crafty man, so I doubt if any of Fraud’s nonsense will be in the video.
Snelgrove Lake Bigfoot sample will be included in the Ketchum study! I don’t know how it will be included, as either a successful or an unsuccessful sample, but I would assume that if they are making special mention of it, it is as a successful sample.
I always thought there was something to that story. This is great news for Dr. Jeff Meldrum, because he was deeply involved with the gathering of that sample, even if he did take off running back into the cabin when the Bigfoots threw rocks at their party.
Look in the archives or Google for more on the story – I don’t have time to recap it, and I’ve already discussed it at length on this site.
Two separate stunning announcements coming at the end of the month.
The first one will be the Ketchum study.
The second one, which will also shake the field up, is a secret, but is not the study itself. Nevertheless, this secret announcement concerns Ketchum herself, goes hand in hand with her project, and chiefly involves her.
BFRO sitting on a ton of secret evidence and hiding it from the community! I have heard rumors like this for a long time now, but I never knew how extensive the evidence they had was. It turns out that they have been hoarding many high quality photos, some excellent video and some DNA samples that are said to be viable. How they determined that the DNA samples were viable, I have no idea.
The reason they have been hoarding all this stuff for years is due to competition with the Ketchum and Erickson projects. Matt Moneymaker has been tearing down both projects for ages now, and if you bring either one up on the BFRO boards, the thread tends to get locked with snarky remarks from Matt’s Minions. Apparently after the Ketchum study and the Erickson project come out, Matt is going to whip out his stash and reveal it to the world. In this manner, he can at least ride the wave to some extent.
This competition is so ridiculous!
FBI looking into the Sierra Kills! Dale Drinnon of the Frontiers of Zoology cryptozoology site reports that he put in a message to the FBI about the Sierra Kills and received a report from the G-men that they are aware of the matter and that there is no need to be alarmed or concerned.
What an odd statement.
I concur with David Paulides that Justin Smeja is not going to go to jail for the Sierra Kills. In fact, there will probably never be any charges filed over the incident.
Meldrum camp not happy with Ketchum. I have known this for a long, but I always thought it was just the people around Meldrum who have been trashing her and not Meldrum himself. However, now I have heard otherwise. There have been many reports that Meldrum himself thinks Ketchum’s project is, paraphrased, “a crock,” “all for show” and “will soon blow over” with nothing much or nothing period proven. He also thinks, paraphrased, that Ketchum herself is “full of it.”
Anyway, you get the general impression.
No one quite knows why Meldrum feels this way, but he definitely is having nothing whatsoever to do with her project for the above reasons. People are puzzled by his opinions of Ketchum and don’t understand the motivation behind it. It’s true that her study, if verified, will blow his Ape Theory all to Hell, but no knows if this is the reason why Meldrum is so downbeat about her project. It’s all a great big mystery.
However, another source who has talked to Meldrum personally says he is taking a “wait and see” attitude about Ketchum’s project. He saw some of the preliminary data from her project and he thought it looked it good enough to, if not prove anything in and of itself, at least run another study in an attempt to verify her results.
Meldrum also stated that if Ketchum’s study shows that Bigfoots are Homo, he will simply abandon his Ape Theory and hop on to the Homo theory just like that. Good for him! At least that isĀ scientific.
Bigfoots steal knives and altimeters but not guns? Via Thom Powell, I received this interesting story. Thom and a partner of his, a photographer named Russ Taylor, have a habitation going on in a remote, almost completely inaccessible, steep, rugged, forbidding and trail-less side canyon off the Clackamas River near Portland, Oregon where they know that the Bigfoots hang out. This is one of the areas where they research.
Taylor was in the canyon one weekend when he dropped his sidearm, which he keeps for cougar protection. He found out later that it was missing, and he was certain he must have dropped it when he tumbled going over a huge log. He went back the next weekend, and the cromeplated Smith and Wesson .44 was sitting right there on top of the log.
There seemed to be no way the pistol could have fallen off and landed right on the log, so Taylor assumed that whatever found it put it up on top of the log so he could find it again. Another hiker could not have done so. There were no other cars in the lot that weekend, and only Powell and his partners know how to get in and out of the canyon. Even if that happened, another hiker would have taken the $600 pistol.
The two men talked it over and felt that the Bigfoots were probably watching Taylor the whole time he was in the canyon, since they think they are watched every time they go in there. They think the Bigfoots probably found the pistol and put it up on the log so the man could find it again, presumably because Bigfoots have no use for guns.
Powell also reported that they have had knives and altimeters stolen in the canyon. An altimeter owned by Jim Henick was stolen from plain view sitting on a rock in their lunch spot when they left for 15 minutes. When they came back, it had vanished into thin air. What use a Bigfoot has for an altimeter, I have no idea. Powell seems to think they could put it to some use, but I think that is dubious. Maybe they just wanted to play with it.
Ape versus human not a false dichotomy. It is claimed by some who have long pushed the Ape theory and are now scrambling in light of upcoming genetic evidence that will show Bigfoots to be Homo that the Ape versus human debate is a false dichotomy. They make statements such that humans are apes and humans and apes are all primates or hominoids.
But this avoids the crux of the argument! The Ape Theory proponents have always said that Bigfoot is an ape, as in a non-Homo ape. Non-Homo apes include chimps, gorillas, orangutans and gibbons. The Ape Theory folks thinks that Bigfoots are related to orangutans or even gibbons.
Gigantopithecus, which would have been a 9 foot tall ape, was related to an orangutan. Although there is little evidence that Giganto was bidepal, the Ape Theory is that Giganto adapted bipedalism via convergent evolution with Homo. I’ve never been a fan of parallel development. That’s what doomed the multiregional theory of Homo development and led to its destruction.
Anyway, this has been their line, that Bigfoot is a non-Homo ape generally thought to be most closely related to Orangutans for Chrissake. Jake Barnes, a friend, thinks the closest living relatives to Bigfoots are gibbons. Well, he’s just wrong.
This will all come out in the wash sooner or later, and we will have to go back to the drawing board about where we draw the line between Homo and the rest of the apes.
Another false view of the Ape Theory folks is that Homo = human. They think that the Human Theory crowd says Bigfoots are humans, or that they’re people. In a word, that they are us. Sadly, there are some folks in my camp who actually believe this insanity. They think Bigfoots are feral humans who lived in the woods too long, went native, grew their hair and beards long and quit indulging in baths and other fussy civilized things. Somehow they grew hair all over themselves apparently to protect themselves from the elements, which I think is ridiculous.
On this the Ape Theory is right – Bigfoots aren’t people! Bart Cutino made this point loud and clear in his last interview. Good show! Of course they’re not us. But since when does Homo = human (Homo sapiens sapiens)? Can we open our minds to the notion that our Homo ancestors and relatives may have been or are radically different from us?
Paulides believes Bigfoot nuclear DNA is from aliens? Paulides of NABS is a paranormalist. Bigfooters who reject paranormalism are called conventionalists – Bobby Short is a good example of a conventionalist.
As such, he believes in many a wild and woolly notion about Bigfoots, including that they are related to UFO’s, that a massacre took place at Bluff Creek involving Patty and other Bigfoots in 1967 and that Patterson and Gimlin are murderers, and now, strangest of all, that the nuclear DNA of Bigfoots is from aliens!
I should say that all of the other NABS members are also paranormalists, so Paulides is in good company.
Sadly, the view that Bigfoots are part alien of all things is widely held in our community. Wally Hersom is said to be way off into this stuff, and there is even a rumor that there is something in the NuDNA of Ketchum’s study that is “not of this Earth.” Even if it’s true, I hope Ketchum doesn’t write that, because if she does, her paper is shot to Hell.
This theory is preposterous, as Bigfoots are hybrids of humans on the MtDNA side and prehistoric men or hominins on the nuclear side. The only way an alien can mate with a human is if the human is an alien too. You know any people who are aliens?
This also shoots the Ape Theory. For that theory to be true, humans would have had to have mated with gigantic orangutans at some point in the past. The only way a human can mate with an orangutan is if the human is an orangutan themselves. You know any people who are orangutans?
Explanation for revelations about Moneymaker’s drug use. I am not doing this to tear the guy down. Granted, he’s pretty much of a tool, but I don’t know him, and he’s never done the slightest thing to me personally, so I have nothing personal against him.
On the contrary, I feel that it’s relevant to the field as he’s such a big honcho and Bigfoot TV star now that his problem might impact on his show or his organization and thus affect the field. I also feel that the problem is so far advanced at this point that it might be affecting his health. Those who love or like Matt wouldn’t want to see him die an early death or suffer serious injury, such as a heart attack, while chasing the white lines on the mirrored highway.
I am aware Matt threatens to sue people who talk about this, but he hasn’t threatened me yet. If he does, I can probably access photos of Matt using drugs (they do exist, and I know people who have them). I would only publish them if threatened with a lawsuit.
I am not attacking him from a moral point of view, after all, people who live in grass houses shouldn’t get stoned.
Long ago in another world, I inhabited the same Endless Party Universe that Matt lives in. If a magic camera could go back in time, all sorts of incriminating photos of me and with disreputable nonliving suspects could be found. The thousand hits of LSD, the pound of magic mushrooms, the suitcase full of pot, the pound of pot in the garage. Been there, done that, and I am not motivated by hypocrisy.
That’s all come and gone, and now I’m something of a health nut, but I’ll be a drug fan for the rest of my life, if only in my sweet reminiscences.
Rundown of samples in the Ketchum study. This will be updated every time it changes.
Bigfoot samples submitted: Over 200
Presumptive for Bigfoot: Almost 100
# of Bigfoot individuals represented: 20-28
Yeti samples submitted: Unknown
Presumptive for Yeti: 1
# of Yeti individuals represented: 1
Details of successful Bigfoot samples:
5 hair samples from Golden Ears Provincial Park in British Colombia, representing 5 separate creatures, gathered by Erickson Project.
1 toenail from Larry Jenkins in the Grand Canyon area of Arizona.
1 blood sample from JC Johnson in the 4 Corners area of New Mexico (skunk in a drainpipe sample).
1 blood sample from Crittenden, Kentucky, gathered by Erickson Project. Sample was obtained by gluing glass shards on a feeding plate.
1 hair sample from David Paulides’ NABS known as the Ulibarri sample from Hoopa Valley, California.
1 hair sample from Larry Surface in southern Ohio. Surface shot the controversial nighttime Bigfoot video that was pulled from the web recently.
1 hair sample from Joe Black in the Great Smoky Mountains, Eastern Tennessee.
1 slice of Bigfoot flesh from Sierra Buttes, California from the adult male Bigfoot shot dead by Justin Smeja.
1 large sample of saliva from the Olympic Project obtained via a Bigfoot licking a camera.
1 hair sample from SE Oklahoma collected by TEXLA Cryptozoological Research, whoever they are. Description here.
1 blood, tissue and hair sample from a nailboard trap at Snelgrove Lake, Ontario, Canada (presumably successful).
That is only 15 of nearly 100 successful Bigfoot samples. I have no idea about the rest.
Best Bigfoot samples: Smeja’s Bigfoot steak and JC Johnson’s skunk in a drainpipe Bigfoot sample.
Details of successful Yeti samples:
1 Yeti hair sample from Josh Gates collected in Bhutan.
Interesting, seems like a lot of stuff contradicts earlier statements, which usually means it was false to begin with. A body is the only way this will ever be laid to rest unfortunately. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if BFRO has great footage and shots, they are the biggest group of Bigfooters around and decently funded. They gain the most out of this due to there television show, the ratings after it proven to be real will be massive and they will receive a lot of credit for bringing it mainstream unfortunately.
I head Moneymaker bought the footage from Lucky Star Casino in Concho a few years back from a vet student I know in Stillwater (Oklahoma State). It was a VHS dub and he said Moneymaker paid $35k for the footage and has been sitting on it waiting for the right time to release it
Is this the REAL footage of the REAL Bigfoot that was shot by the casino security cam and not the recreated footage shot later?
I haven’t watched the video, but I went to OK State and a guy I grew up with said that when the footage was found by the casino, it called the Veterinary Department at OSU to analyse the footage. A copy made its way to the department and was shown to some of the administrators. My friend said he watched it and it was the scariest yet coolest thing he ever witnessed. He said there were 11 hours of footage on this tape and it showed continuous footage from behind the casino and at 3am or so according to the time counter on the film a large bipedal animal walks under a light to get to a grease dumpster. Total footage time with the alleged bigfoot is 15-20 seconds.
Last year he was over for a game and saw a preview for Finding Bigfoot and said that guy was in Stillwater and bought the footage from the University a few years back . I said bullshit and he said I swear that guy was in Stillwater and paid 35k for the footage. He said it was a VHS dub and obviously the resolution was 320×240 at best, but said it showed genitals and massive muscles and other features that wouldn’t be faked.
The casino wouldn’t allow it because of the Indian heritage and culture and the casino is in the middle of nowhere. 30 minutes West of OKC in Concho
Shocking news indeed, Robert! Let`s wait and see..I just hope you continue your exciting BF news coverage also after all these publications and documentaries have come out…
Thx Jeorg!
I am in a rush this am…all I can say is…\ when I tried to reach Matt Moneymaker I was diverted to a local volunteer who informed me they didn’t need any video because they already had some. He didn’t know what or from where, he was just told to tell me they had video! That was about June 2009. Never heard from BFRO again, so I assumed they did….and I think it was about then that MM filed a lawsuit against Woolheater for posting the Pancake video..which oddly MM no longer owned as it was sold to EP…the case dismissed and the countersuit by Woolheater also after he talked with EP… the confidentiality agreements of that project go way way back….
All I can think is: won’t we have a lot to read about after the embargo..from the study to what the participants have to say..oh yeah and whoever reads it! There is quite a bit written in blogs already, but it takes some serious Google wandering to discover..
I think if Bigfoot is ever proven to exist, what “camp” a particular researcher is from will be of little importance. The fact that nine and ten foot creatures have largely evaded detection from society as a whole will overshadow everything. There would be great interest in what type of animal bigfoot is for sure, but I doubt anyone would criticize previously held notions on what it was thought to be (aside from the alien connection you mentioned). I think there would only be winners- those individuals who believed and put reputations on the line to pursue their beliefs. And I’m sure many skeptics would have to eat crow. All of this of course relies on PROOF,
.
To htsummer: Right on the mark. I have made a similar point here myself in earlier posts. The major news is proving these creatures exist and vindicating all who have investigated and supported this fact. The details are subtleties which can be sorted out as we get to know them better.
Great stuff as usual robert. The Matilda sleeping pic is not impressive as I said before. I’m beginning to lose a little faith in the Erickson element and placing more on Melba et al. I really hope some of the Erickson footage is half decent however. The sketch on their website must be a decent representation of what Matilda looks like, as it seems to look like a wookie? The strange thing is after reading Tribal bigfoot I liked a lot of what paulides was suggesting, and the sketches in the book fitted in with the homo camp theory. The Wookie shot on the Erickson website is much less human?
There was a video a year or two back of an alleged Austrailian Yowie which looked very much like a guy in a wookie mask (and thus possibly Matilda?). I wonder what Justin Smeeja thinks the pic on the Erickson website/Yowie clip is anything like what he encountered?
The DNA will make or break the whole thing imo.
The Bigfoots back East reportedly have long manes, LOL. There are different subtypes around North America I guess. I think that drawing is supposed to be a drawing of Matilda.
Robert, those long manes are called “Kentucky Waterfalls” and are quite
easy to photograph in that area. Kentucky has an unusually high percentage of the “Mullet style haircut”. Just be careful when you take their pictures. They are also very nocturnal and should be considered dangerous due to their massive meth intake. They also have super-human strength and would think nothing of killing someone for say large amounts of copper wire or recycle beer cans……
http://www.cryptomundo.com/bigfoot-report/yowie-video/
Theres a link to Cryptomundo featuring the clip. Thoughts?
Thank you for publishing so much news, Robert. I’m just a wee bit baffled at one statement in your post. “Matilda got pregnant by some unknown male . . ” and “Surely not her daddy…”
Really? Is there any sort of evidence that the Bigfoot humanoids are more scrupulous than backwoodsmen in Arkansas?
Going by the Albert Ostman story, they appear to have an incest taboo. And in the Janice Carter story, there didn’t appear to be any incest that I recall. They formed pair bonds.
Thank you. Good reasoning.
I personally don’t believe that they would have to resort to incest to reproduce because there are more of them than most people realize. Not a lot of them, but enough to have a breeding population.
In fact, there are probably more “encounters” than are even estimated.
Imagine for a moment that a hunter, a non-believer, walks through the deep woods and hears some wood knocks. He attributes them to a guy fixing a fencepost somewhere and thinks nothing more of it. What is really happening is they are warning knocks to the other ‘foots saying “A human is here. Keep your head down.”
This scenario probably happens a lot more than we know because that hunter has no idea what made those knocks and has no reason to report it.
IIRC, years ago I heard knocks in the woods and didn’t know at the time what they could possibly have been. And I’m not in the woods nearly as much as avid hunters are.
Point being, there have to be a fairly good many of them to have a breeding population. They just don’t step out to give autographs.
Thats my theory. Matilda was probably just knocked up by the camera shy guy over in the next valley.
They don’t mate a whole lot, or the females don’t go into estrus a whole lot, one way or the other. At any rate, they only breed 2-3 babies in a long lifetime. And they appear to try to form long-term pair-bonds, like many other animals. In animals that form long-term pair-bonds, you won’t find a lot of incest I don’t think. Furthermore, Bigfoots really really know who Mommy, Daddy and the kids are unlike say cats and dogs.
In the Albert Ostman story, the old male Bigfoot apparently kidnapped Ostman so he could be a mate for his shy teenage daughter Bigfoot. In the Janice Carter story, as soon as the females reach adolescence, they get knocked up by some male or other. Often these seem to be unknown males who come from out of nowhere to knock them up. Pair-bonds are often formed, but sometimes, they just end up single Moms. And sometimes Bigfoot pair-bonds seem to end in some sort of divorce or separation.
SORT OF LIKE PEOPLE, YOU KNOW?
I am an avid hunter and I spend many hours yearly in the woods. Two years ago, I was climbing down a tree with my tree stand when i heard two VERY loud “whoop” sounds that I have NEVER heard before inmy 35 years of hunting. The “whoop” sounds were so loud that I heard multiple echoes from the many valleys around the area that I hunt. This noise is what caused me to search out the source of them and I concluded that it may have been a BF. These “whoop” noises ranged from a very low tone to a high pitch that NO human could have replicated and they were over 5 seconds long. I too believe that BF’s use knocks and “whoops” to warn others that there are dangers present. Many other animals use vocalizations to warn others of danger too. A deer will “blow”, a mockingbird will “scream”, squirrels will “bark”, and so on. It is not a far fetched idea that BF doesn’t do the same.
FYI – Articles are typically un-embargoed 1-7days before their actual publication date. So add a few days to the publication window rumor you have tapped into, and there, you will have a new window for public/journalistic release. If not today, then very soon, I hope!
btw – Prof Daniel MacArthur does indeed look like someone Dr Melba Ketchum might want as a co-author or reviewer. His website lists all sorts of relevant publications. He may have done some of the sequencing work for the human genographic project.
Robert,
You mentioned that there were two stunning announcements and the second one was a secret but it involved Ketchum herself. Can you offer your OPINION on what it could be? Maybe a hunch or guess?
I haven’t the faintest damned idea! One of my sources thought it might be that they will unveil the body of the baby Bigfoot from the Sierra Kills, but they were just guessing. My source simply won’t tell me. They won’t even give me any hints, because they say that I’m so smart, that if they give me any hints at all, I will probably be able to figure it out LOL.
LOL. I was searching other stories about the DNA evidence and most of the sites that I went to referred to you as their source for their information. Weird…… lots of BF’ers dont like you but they use your information a lot! LOL
Yeah, they all hate me but they get all their info from me LOL.
I think it would be more along the lines of acceptance of a position related to her work. A step up from a Vetenary forensic practice, up to the big leagues. The idea floating around of plant stories to coerupa body to be revealed? I don’t like those mental images anymore than someone’s suggestion it will be an engagement announcement to a Bigfooter! But, a nice cherry position somewhere real would be cool. Her filings and NDA’s might also indicate a launching of her own BF genome lab….and documentary.
Maybe she and Paulides are getting married LOL.
I don’t either personally, so it could be a match made in Bigfoot Heaven? Kind of like Bradjolina? or is it Angopitt?
Or would that be fair use posted on a non-commercial site like this?
Ah, that would acctually be kind of celebratiry wouldn’t it?
But, the more I consider it, if her work is as startling and leading edge as claimed, any number of insitutions may be very interested in capturing her future work under their moniker…that would be ideal really. A two year stint or co-op even with the premeir labs… and definately OPEN ACCESS movement…
I am trying to figure out how to get a PDF of the paper w/o feeling guilty, as I am not subscribing to any Journals related..a trip to the U Library I guess
why I bother to reread when I know I can’t edit ..so, insert a :know” either personally and misc other typos….no Robert I have not gotten to eye doctor to replace these oft forgotten specs
really I would love to see her launch to a major group nvolved in ancient human migrations, etc…the stuff coming out is just mind boggling…oddly, Smithsonan Jan 2012 online…artcile points out how really improbably Sasquatch is from Gigantico…and the writer links to http://www.hairygiants. something…interesting don’t you think..not even tongue in cheek?
humm I actually cannot think of a combined Melba Ketchum & David Paulides catch phrase..and it is Bradgolina right?
My money is on a new position, whether self created or with an institution. If it is a baby Bigfoot? I will cry, then think, then weep, then think, then post, and post some more…I won’t be the only one I suppose! If it’s true love, I will applaud whith a wide Cheshire grin? Who can resist love?
It’s Brangelina.
Hi Robert, I see you’ve said a few words about the Thursday publication rumor. If you placed any value in my own post #2389 over at the Bigfoot Forum, that value should only have been as satire. When I wrote how there was a 50% chance of Thursday release, and gave my reasoning, I was only making fun of our anxieties about the paper and the long history of hoaxes in bigfootery. No wagering, please Ladies and Gentlemen.<that's a Letterman line
Yeah right now, I do NOT believe that the paper will be released today, sorry. My source is quite insistent that it will still be the end of February.
It’s kind of like waiting for The Great HOUDINI to mount the proscenium!

I see a Feb 2012 paper in Science that seems related in that the author includes this 1000 Genomes group and also Dan McAuthor as lead, and one heck of an et al. The subject fitting as well, if even tangential to defining our friends of the wild?.
Gee, that might include the reputed eight or so labs samples were sent to?
Science looks like the journal then perhaps.
And would love to hear from the more educated about just waht this paper is saying! Certainly seems to be info they discovered while trying to figure out what something else from some variable samples? I just scanned the abstract and would spend hours understanding the full article…step in someone please and interpret.

Waiting…..hoping.
I have a hard time believing that Matilda in the EP footage is the way she looks in the drawing on the EP website. That looks completely different from everything people have described in Sasquatch anatomy for the past 70 years. It looks off IMO. I’m questioning it
Or that footage is just fake
I don’t remember where, so I can’t provide a link, but I remember reading a quote from the artist that drew that image. She said that it wasn’t based on anything other than her imagination.
I found it, it was on Cryptomundo: http://www.cryptomundo.com/cryptozoo-news/matilda/ . The artists name is Arlet de Visser. She talks about the drawing in the comments section under the name “Arletty”.
That’s correct, WD. An artist intentionally drew that drawing from imagination, not any pics or video of a real sasquatch. This was intentional, and thus has nothing to do with “Matilda” or “Patty” or any other actual or purported sasquatch.
Re. publication dates; I’ve heard all this multiple times before. So maybe; maybe not.
RIchard
Hi Richard, do you have any specific journals, which you suspect are working over Ketchum et al’s paper?
Richard, have you seen the “Matilda” footage? If so can you say what your impressions of it were?
I probably have, but I was exceedingly polite and didn’t ask any leading questions; I just watched–I kind-of shortened version made into a fairly good documentary of maybe 45 minutes.
While I probably saw “Matilda”, I only heard this name on this particular blog, so I’m not sure. I do know though that ALL the footage shown (cuts from several locations, both day and night) was kick-ass. The one exception to this was (in my humble opinion) the “pancake video”, which was the worst of the bunch. I’m not saying it was faked; I’m just saying it was too dark to make any intelligent judgements about its authenticity.
Richard
Nice post once again Robert!
Can’t wait for the new info to come out.
Nice one Rob,
Ignore the bastards who put you down.
All the best,
Tim. U,K,
Thank you very much Tim!
I’ve been fighting the urge all day, and just have to say this. The quote from Hersom about DNA “not of this earth” brought back a memory of an old Frank and Ernest cartoon. It’s a single panel. An announcer is saying into the mike: “And now, some unpleasant news for all you carbon-based life forms.”
Some things really must be laughed at.
This DNA not of this earth stuff? What do they have to compare it to?Are they saying they have or know what ET DNA looks like? How is this? Who is saying it besides Wally? And lets all take a long look at how far all of us are out on a very strange limb? At this point nothing will surprise me.Grammy, don’t laugh at what you know nothing about. This whole sasquatch debate is getting weirder by the minute, and all the pills are getting too hard to swallow………
I agree. It is a living breathing Primate. I am so sick of the alien, shapeshifter, spirit crap that has always existed in the Sasquatch community. Is a large bipedal primate roaming our backyards not enough of a culture shock?
Silly child, vergearuker, at my age I can laugh at anything that tickles my funnybone. But what’s not at all funny is Wally Hersom’s statement. You ask, correctly, what do they have to compare it to? That’s what science requires. But the twilight zone statements are, indeed, out of reason. The subject is the nuclear DNA of the sasquatch. And since the mitochondrial DNA has been demonstrated to be homo sapiens sapiens, then that nuclear DNA must be “human” also. Those human eggs were not fertilized by anything that didn’t have 46 carbon-based chromosomes.
The only “alien” comparison I know of is the “Star Child Skull” that Lloyd Pye has. While he thinks it is “out of this world”, I see no evidence that it is or isn’t. It’s just Lloyd Pye’s interpretation and anatomical assessment of the skull.
To my knowledge, Pye only published excerpts of the mitochondrial DNA, which was evidently even more different from modern humans than Denisovan. Does that make it alien? Maybe, maybe not. Why speculate anyway? Let the experts see what kind of relationships they can draw from the actual sequencing, not some off-the-wall, ad-hoc opinion.
Further, of the three mito sequences I have seen, NONE were even remotely close to the Starchild Skull’s mito. Nor to the Denisovan, nor to Neanderthal.
Again, I don’t know about the nuclear, so why not just wait and see? This endless speculation makes us all look like arm-chair kooks.
Richard
it is 8:18 Central European Time…Ketchum announces on Facebook!!!!!!! Now it really starts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Assuming the “end of February” is valid (and I don’t know that it is), the scenario will play out as follows:
The paper publication will be announced, and probably be made available on-line if not on paper. A simultaneous announcement of a press conference (on a major TV network) will be made. By necessity, this will have to be made at least 24 hours in advance, maybe longer — similar to the press conference that Biscardi announced when he was hoaxed beyond belief by the “Georgia Boys” on CNN back in 2008.
A partial release at the same time of the Erickson footage is likely but not guaranteed. Since Paulides, followed by Biscardi, followed by me, followed by Java Bob, were there before Erickson, I assume that Paulides will also be included.
Meanwhile, according to Ketchum three of us are still in the proverbial dog house (Biscardi, Stubstad, and Java Bob), so I can almost tell you with certainty none of us will be there.
Meanwhile, I don’t know how to keep track of press conference announcements; Bob, can you do this, please, and post the announcement–assuming the end of February is actually valid?
Richard
Really doghouse? Can I join you and come in out of the rain?
btw yes on DAC good stuff from him
sorry, folks, all-clear…I am not one of her FB friends and just a friend of mine informed me about it…it seems Ketchum does not mention journal and exact publication date, just between the lines that we really do not have to wait much longer…Ok, however: after that new statement I guess now we really can expect the paper to come out in the coming weeks
I’ve never understood why anybody who is experiencing repeat encounters with these beings would bother to hoax encounters. It just makes us all look like lunatics in the public’s eyes.
Anyway, thanks for the updates.
YW Raven!
Where is Erickson getting the money to fund this project? Anybody know?
Quite possibly from Wally Hersom.
This just in 2 minutes ago: While I am giving thanks to the many people responsible for the success of the project, I also want to mention Adrian Erickson because this study would have taken a lot longer if he hadn’t been generous with his funding also. So, without these two generous people (Adrian and Wally) this study would not have been able to be done. I will also tell you that the study is not coming out next Thursday as everyone keeps saying. I do NOT have a date. So that is why I ask you for patience.
Am I supposed to be surprised?
Richard
Not really. Cheers!
Are we to conclude that there is NOT an imminent publication of the Ketchum paper before the end of February?
Quelle Horreur!
Not really.
Again, from where I stand (or sit), if this Ketchum paper actually appears in print (notice the prepositional conditional), then I will read it, and then make a comment about its contents.
And there is a chance that the paper may not appear in a refereed scientific journal.
But we’ll see ultimately what (situation), and where, and how this paper shows up in.
Oh it will run soon all right! Our word was end of February, and according to my source, that’s straight from Ketchum herself. She gave that date at end of January. And a friend spoke to David Paulides last night and Paulides said the paper is coming soon soon soon soon soon.
It’s already made it through peer review, probably around December 31, and that means it would be published sometime in the next four months after that date, that is, before April 30.
I’ll place bets it’s a lot closer to a publication date of April 30th than February 23rd or 28th. A $2 bill anyone?
Richard
Well, Richard, I think you will win your bet. Because Melba is asking – yes, again – for our patience. Quote from her facebook page:
While I am giving thanks to the many people responsible for the success of the project, I also want to mention Adrian Erickson because this study would have taken a lot longer if he hadn’t been generous with his funding also. So, without these two generous people (Adrian and Wally) this study would not have been able to be done. I will also tell you that the study is not coming out next Thursday as everyone keeps saying. you may have that right, I am more interested in the Journa. I noticed Sally used Nature as her example … well we all want it in Nature, but we also know it was sent back for a testable hypothesis…to me that could have been corrected with a revision, so there may be hope. On the other hand, a commenter noted after Sally’s long copy/paste from the nature “submissions” embargo description that Nature states it allows authors to put on their blogs the submission news, identify the Journal, and also an abstract of the paper on their own blogs. Go figure…since they say they can’t do that, it must not be Nature? I didn’t not chase down the commenter’s cut and paste from Nature…but, the source is from BFF an a consistent tail chaser on this.
Did anyone get around this at the time?? Very interesting stuff: http://voices.yahoo.com/bigfoot-dna-report-hypothesis-2011-8786601.html?cat=58
Yes, sir/ma’am, and after you read that link by David Claerr, try this one too:

This man is brilliant. I work with him quite a lot, and I’ve learned a whole lot from him myself.
Ricdhard
He is refreshing, the smarts, combined with kindness and integrity, are inspiring. All three qualitites are rare among the many we hear from on the topic.
Robert, a lot of bells and whistles are going off this weekend with the DNA report. It may not come out next Thursday, but it won’t be very much longer. There’s a PR person on Melba’s new facebook page and she’s willing to answer any questions that will not harm the Peer-review process.
Hey, Robert, you are killin’ it!! More!!
Hey a PR flack, is that a good sign? who knows. Sally Ramey is her name.
She has already started hypin’ Ketchum’s paper, sayin’ it’ll be front page news unless we are going to war!!!
However, the word from the BFRO is that she is easily impressed…she’s a MK Davis “shoot em up” fan, according to this:
I saw the red stuff on her heel and the large spots of it on the ground from where she had just lifted that foot. This was RED, redder than what was in the pool. ….
I saw when she went down. I have since spoken with a couple of folks who had previously noticed on their own that she went down and wondered why no one else ever said anything about it. But she does go down and her butt is up on the air, just as she disappears behind some logs and stuff. She gets back up quickly.,,,,
As for the hernia, looking frame by frame, a flap of skin is seen rising up and completely separating from her leg, than flopping back down. Then the hole and concentric circle appears. MK did not call it a bullet wound … an audience member first said it. In the private session, I asked why she didn’t react and MK showed us a sequence where she did come down on that leg differently in the very next step. And I also realized that in relation to her size, it may have felt more like a BB shot to her, but that’s my speculation. ..
Another interesting sequence that suggested a second shot was shown to us in the smaller session. Something causes her topknot to suddenly blow upward and forward. The pony tail jerks upward in reaction. The wind was supposed to be less than 10 mph that day, and a breeze like that isn’t going to blow your hair up like that – this was too quick and violent of a motion. ….There were dirt berms on two sides of it. Roger shot a sequence of Patty over the top of the berm on the far side of the pool, and does appear to be standing in the pool as he does so. There are straight, consistenly-spaced vertical marks along the far edge of the pool that look like the teeth of a back-hoe. …. large anything is. Some people at the larger session couldn’t see the right-hand berm but there were rocks on the right-hand side of it that had shadows clearly indicating the slope. Oh, and you cannot tell how deep the pool is.
The pool had whitish things in it that were lighter in color than the dirt and rocks around it. And there was a dark object in the pool. You could see where the red fluid had been splashed up onto the dirt and rocks on the far side of the pool and left a stain or residue. The red color was a tad more brownish — not as red as the red on Patty’s heel and those spots on the ground. …
There was another sequence showing a light-colored, stick-like object in Patty’s left hand. She seems to shake her hand when dropping it at some point, and it can be seen falling behind her left leg. No clue what that is. But it sort of looks like it has a straight end and a curved end. I believe I recall that Patty looked down at her hand when she dropped it, but my memory is fuzzy on that because it wasn’t as interesting to me as the other stuff.
…..
But I guess a flack is supposed to be easily impressed.
We’ll see, someday, maybe, perhaps.
Yes, very good sign. I think the paper is coming pretty soon, but I don’t know when.
a lotof this comes from MK Davis’s work..and his skills are super and the website is really respectful. I am aware of the controversy around his thinking, but I am also aware that the story we hear doesn’t add up…Paulides does a good job of questioning the events in Tribal Bigfoot.
I bought a ticket to see Paulides a year or so ago, only to have him “pull out” – others say “forced out” because Gimlin decided to accept the invitation and he didn’t want Paulides there….
yeah…it was 50 years ago when guys like Slick were still celebrated for being Gig Game Hunters…I think that day has passed (and forgive that midcentury thinking then..not today)…and Wally Hersom might find a differnt public..depends on what he is writing..
Because there were dogs involved in tracking either prior or after, and the swarm of those who shoed up almost instantly – including Laverty – tells me we don’t know the whole story…or we do…too many are dead and too many committed to their story…don’t see any resolution there…but I don’t slam MKDavis.. I am impressed with his work.
sorry I was responding to gertrude and hit wrong reply key..in reference to Sally being impressed….only a few typos..lol a sign of a good day
Mr. Apehuman,
sorry, no disrepect to you or Sally Ramey, but MKDavis’ gunshot/blood/stick etc stuff is just whack. There are lots of nice respectful people around whose ideas are out in left field.
Gertrude
LOL I Knew you would come back..and I don’t disagree…and here’s why” First I don’t care too much..it is old crystalized type evidence…the technology MK has applied is the best I have seen and the clearest renditions, using that first gen coy. How one concludes from those images and the testimony we have? Go for it! i am amazed we spend so much energy on that, when..well…the opportunites today are so grea. But, that’s just me! Given the presence of guns and dogs, the general menatilty of outdoors types at that time, makethepossiblity aslikely asnot
