Most on the list are b grade action movies with Patriot Games dealing with the IRA not Arabs that Clancy has also featured Russians, drug dealers, etc as villains in his other novels/films.
On his worst list I haven’t even seen or heard most of the films and some like Back to the Future that shows a scene of Libyan terrorists who are not Arabs only lasted for about 1 minute who are inconsequential to the overall plot of the movie.

I don’t think it’s “anti arab” to show arabs being killed or insulted on film. If anything, it reflects more poorly on redneck/military culture than it does on arab culture and could help garner sympathy.
Hollywood has some of the most progressive jews, and many have exhibited much sympathy towards Arabs (Jon Stewart, Barbra Streisand) and rural white evangelicals remain the subject of their mockery, with the occasional jab against Catholicism.

There’s some validity to this point but its still a one sided, simplistic, unsympathetic portrayal and it will affect people’s perceptions of Arabs. Terrorists remain only a small minority of Arabs. The political reality as you say is a bit more complex than Arabs= bad guys. Iraqi’s had their country invaded and most of them didn’t even fight the Americans.
Look at the poles of the Arab world. Most of them admire Americas democracy and economic development, have misgivings about its decadence, resent America’s support for dictatorships and Israel, do not support terrorism or the killing of civilians. They’re not all bearded loons with harsh furrowed brows, running around with bombs strapped to them or shooting at Americans.

It’s fair to say that he has an agenda, and it depends what should be considered “anti arab.” Arabs take great offense when Arabs are killed or lose because they like to see themselves as invincible (on the other hand jews are all to pleased to see themselves as victims.) I would prefer to say something like Hollywood commonly plays on negative stereotypes of Arabs or casts them as the bad guy or something like that. If that means Hollywood is anti-Arab then Hollywood is anti-Arab but Dota said that in the first place I think, not me. I might not have put it so strongly.
Regarding your criticisms, I’d have to look into Sheehan’s analysis and what he classes as negative to really see how valid his conclusions are…

That’s only part of the media portrayal of Chinese people and its a kind of old fashioned one. People also think of them as a) martial artists and b) smart. Plus the media are always pointing out how powerful China is becoming.

And I will say Arabs are often portrayed as terrorists in movies with a political theme, but there just aren’t too many arab roles in your average action/adventure, drama, romantic, or comedy. And Arabs are harsh when judging movies as well. I was reading an article from the Arab Anti Defamation Committee about Anti Arabism about anti arab incidents and their complaints were pretty petty. A reviewer of In the Army Now, called the movie “anti arab” because it showed Libyans riding camels and because the captain urges his unit to “blow their asses up” in a heavy Southern accent, which reflects more poorly on redneck culture than it does on Arab culture. Jews are all too pleased to be seen as victims, but Arabs get offended. Another complaint was from a Tunisian woman who complained that the airport called out her name on the intercom when she was late for her flight-not pleasant, but hardly a civil rights violation.
Shaheen’s assessment doesn’t take into account Jewish producers or personalities who have gone out of their way and indeed risked their careers to protect Arabs and Muslims, and who aim most of their ridicule at the rural white evangelicals.
I’m sorry I do not see Arabs as an oppressed minority. A lot has changed since 1941.

The highest murder rates in the world are in central America. I once made a list of the top ten countries by homicide race and half or more than half were Latino I think. I’m not sure if I’d even agree that blacks are the most criminal race in the world.

Well Robert, you and everyone else may be surprised to hear this from me, but I can actually understand where PC types are coming from in this regard.
When people like Bill Cosby or other blacks (who aren’t professional conservatives/Uncle Tom’s) criticize black pathologies, they do it from a friendly, constructive perspective. They want to help their fellow blacks improve.
However, when whites criticize black pathologies, they do it to bash/demonize them.
Likewise, when people like Dota, Wade, GSG, or even Cyrus criticize white gentiles, I don’t get offended, because I know that none of them are really hostile to whites as a whole, and some are even pro-white.
However, when people like Abagond or other anti-racists/CRT’s criticize whites, they do it from an unfriendly, hostile standpoint, and they do it to demonize whites.
There’s a big difference between insider criticism versus outsider criticism, and friendly versus unfriendly criticism.
I’m not saying you point out black pathologies to be unfriendly or bash them, but generally speaking, when outsiders criticize a different group, their intent isn’t friendly.

Agreed. Even though I’m pro-white and identify with most of my fellow whites regardless of nationality or ethnicity, I don’t have tremendous sympathy for Afrikaners, or other white minorities in Africa for that matter.
They should have left while they had the chance, if they’re upset with the current situation.
While they have in many ways become politically powerless and disenfranchised, they still control a disproportionate amount of the wealth and are heavily overrepresented in the private sector.
Of course, in any situation where you have a “market dominant minority” (to borrow a term from Amy Chua), with the majority controlling the politics and the guns, that’s not bound to end well…
